Absolutely not. And the difference between jewelry and still dirty brass is a rinse cycle.
So can you explain just a bit? How you “rinse” I’ve had pretty good results using the little packets from F.A. but I’m almost out of them. So it’s order more or use the dawn and lemi shine.

I’m shopping for a wet tumbler. I’ve looked at Lyman, Hornady, another brand I don’t recall and the good ol FART… just curious if anyone has input on the subject. Wet tumbling will be a new undertaking, but I’m wanting that kind of clean.
I like the looks and features of some, but the price tag of others… but I don’t want something that won’t work either…
Thanks to everyone for their input. I am curious, has anyone had any experience with Hornady ‘s rotary Tumblr? I am probably going to buy a fart., But I also like to shop local, and since I am a Nebraska boy…

I run range pickups for an hour, then dump the nasty water and rinse until most of the soap is gone and run another 10 minutes. Then I do a final wash off until all soap is gone and put on to dry. When I begin they are dirty as possible and some full of mud.

I just got a Tumblers tumbler to replace one that got stolen some years ago, I had looked at the FA one but was happy with the results of the TT. The lowest price is at Midway at $219.00, I think they have free shipping right now. I got the pins from a computer supply place 5# was $22.00.
I made my own separator. I use 1 tbs. of Armorall wash and wax, 1/4 tsp of Lemishine and 5# water. IMG_1284.JPG IMG_1285.JPG

If you buy the bigger Frankford rotary tumbler it comes with the pins.
The smaller Lite tumbler you need to buy five pounds of pins.

The bigger tumbler has a timer set switch.

the Lite tumbler doesn't have a timer option.

I use the ArmorAll Wash n Wax, Lemi-shine Booster and Dawn. It last a long time for the normal reloading guy.

I like your home made seperator.

I've been "pickling" my brass since I found a good formula. I use lemishine, dawn, and hot water and hand agitate in a sieve/strainer for about 20 minutes. Lately I've been considering a wet tumbler. Some of my brass is really crusty, on it's 7th firing. I'll keep an eye on the input here.

Sometimes it takes 3-4 beers, or in my case whiskey Old Fashioneds, while processing brass ;)
The best movie line about Old Fashions was in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world when Jim Baccus gives over to (I think ) Buddy Hackket the controls of the plane and says I will go back and show you how to make an Old Fashion!

Who in the heck would steal a tumbler? Just plain weird.

I tumble a lot of brass. I have two of the bigger FARTS and a National Metalic wet tumbler.
They both clean the brass great, but I personally prefer the Frankford tumblers over the National Metalic tumbler.
Depending upon your water will depend upon how much Lemi-shine you will have to use.
We have city tap water, I use a cap full of ArmorAll Wash n Wax, a 2/2 teaspoon of Lemi-shine Booster and a small squirt of the Blue Dawn Dish Soap.
I use hot tap water and tumble for an hour.
Dump the dirty black water.
Fill back up with fresh warm water, shake it up a little and dump that dirty water.
Fill back up with warm water and add a cap full of ArmorAll Wash n Wax. Let it rum for fifteen to twenty minutes
Drain and remove the pins.
I made drying racks to dry the brass.
I bought the magnet from Harbor Freight.
I bought a small bottle of Finnish Jet Dry and added a cap full of that until it ran out. View attachment 1105641 View attachment 1105642 View attachment 1105643 View attachment 1105644

know if the mouth opening size Is the same on the national metallic as the Frankford arsenal? I’m just wondering if those strainers they have for the Frankford arsenal will work?

A meth head will seal anything. I had boxes marked kitchen, and a 50# Fairbanks scale weight that were taken!

Yep around here if we have a boat we have to keep the prop covered because they will steal the big SS prop. I guess they sell them on the internet.

If you want to give liquid tumbling a try on the cheap, check this one out:

No personal experience with this one, but I have been quite happy with my original full size FART.
I've got one, and after messing around for a while figured that you have to have it loaded fairly heavy, or the drive wheels just don't rotate the drum. INSTRUCTIONS WERE VERY VAGUE...

I use a Hornady TBL100 TUMBLER with SS pins, love it. I also use the Hornady cleaning solution. De-prime the cases before and primer pockets come out nice and clean as well as the inside of the case. Only cleaning 38\357 cases, have done 300 in a batch. The only trick is to re-tighten the cover after about the first 10 minutes. Normally run them for 2 hours, also use the Hornady pin separator works like a charm. Thoroughly rinse in tap water and blow the external water off with a cheap hair dryer for about 5 minutes. Finish drying in the sun or under a heat lamp, let them set for a couple of days. No problems after about 15k cases.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

I use an empty coffee can with a small dab of liquid soap and some water, then I do 3 reps of 10 shakes and it is all clean!
My method is a dual purpose: it cleans the brass and it provides a light workout!
After the cleaning, I dry the cases using a heat gun on low for about 5 minutes and done!
I mean, since we are to save the planet, I have to use green energy! :neener:
Sorry, I know this thread was about wet tumblers.

This was a project that involved some scrap square stock, an old electric motor, some pillow blocks and pulleys, 3/4" rod as axels and a bathroom fan timer for an on switch...6" PVC pipe w/rubber test cap for my tumbler can....glued small fins inside the tube to create a mixing affect like a cement mixer..and for about $25 , a little time, some scrap, materials that were on hand...I made me a wet tumbler that will handle a couple hundred 30-06 brass no problem.
Takes up the footprint of obout the size of an extra large pizza box.
