Share pictures, and details of your precision rifle.

I searched, and found we have 3 of these threads in the past. Many of the pictures are missing, and the threads are inactive, long forgotten, and not open for further replies. I find it hard to believe that the precision world is unknown, or unloved here, so I thought I'd start a new one.

ETA:

I made High Master in 4 matches with this rifle, then handed it over to my daughter who proceeded to make High Master in her first 3 matches (and she’s not shy about reminding me either  )

With a few upgrades a Savage will shoot small enough to be competitive and you don’t have to cash in your 401k to do it.

I set my son up with a 12 BVSS, a Shilen match barrel chambered to shoot 90gn VLDs in .223, a Nightforce 12-42x56 scope and he made NRA High Master with it in F-TR.

It will hold 5 shot groups in the 1’s and 2’s

We shot in an NRA regional a few years ago and in the last match he tied a past national champion who was shooting a .308. Unfortunately he got “Creedmoored” and came in 2nd.

He was never able to beat his sister though, poor kid ;)

where do you get those bipods? that one looks like a copy of a bridge lol

While it may not count as a "precision rifle" today, back in the day a heavy barreled varmint gun was where it was at.

Sako .222 Mag.

I love shooting the old-style Varmint guns.
IME, a decent centerfire will shoot .2" and better at 100 yards, a rimfire at 50 yards (with good ammo that suits each gun).

Changed over to a ball head on the tripod... Very different. Think I'm gonna like it. Anyone else run one.

I use a ballhead on my smaller tripod which I use for hunting. I’m debating a swap over to an RRS Anvil on my bigger pod, but I don’t shoot enough high angle stuff throughout a match season to warrant the change yet. I’m wanting a new RimX first, and I messed around and stuck a big gun build in front of that… although I did secure a pretty lucrative contract gig this spring, so maybe my RimX can get accelerated.

I shot my first 22LR 50m match this fall.
The guy at the bench next to me and another guy both had RimX rifles. I was looking at either a Vudoo or a RimX so I was speaking with them about their rifles.
One of the 2 told me that he was an early adopter of the RimX and regrets going that route. His is in an MDT ACC chassis.

I’m still on the fence and I may go with a Canadian action. The Ultimatum Deuce.

Feeding seems to be much better with the RimX’s. One of the guys who builds my centerfire rifles shoots a Vudoo, and builds a lot of both, he’s mentioned repeatedly the song and dance he has to do with tweaking mags and stocks/chassis’ to achieve reliable feeding. I know both can and do run, but the RimX seems to have the upper hand for “wanting to run” rather than “being made to run.”

Additionally, I really enjoy the 17WSM, and occasionally still the 17HMR, and drop in barrel compatibility with interchangeability for all of these cartridges all from one rifle is pretty tempting.

I was planning on a Vudoo for quite some time, but unless something else rocks the world before I get my action ordered, mine will be a RimX.

The Vudoo can't handle pressure on the mag pushing it from the front, even lightly, against a bag, it tilts down a hair if it's a sloppy fit front to back to the mag well and jams down. I made a mag block for my Manners, MPA and Grayops now make mag blocks, runs 100+% with no pressure on the front on the mag.

The aluminum Vudoo mags fit so well in the Hawkins bottom metal on my Foundation that it isn't an issue.

They talk about bottom metal/mag well fit on the Vudoo website.

Look closely and you can see the mag block.

I have been told you can't hand feed a round with an empty mag in the RimX, don't know, but this cat wins a lot and has both.

I did it in a match, and that's when he told me.....you couldn't have done that with a RimX.....

Learned something new today, the Hawkins M5 DBM bottom metal has two mag latch heights, even though I don't see options anywhere they are sold, or on the Hawkins site, but Hawkins does a video about their M5 DBM bottom metal and talks about it, as well as when the higher option should be used, including if using rimfire, .223 and AW mags.

That said, when I bolted my Vudoo into my Foundation genesis II with it's (I assume) standard height latch it worked 100%. I received my Foundation Revelation stock today and planned on using that bottom metal since the Genesis II is not being used right now. Naturally I see this video afterwards. Worse case scenario is if I have issues and it looks like a higher mag position will be better, I know what to get, and will call Hawkins to order it, although I imagine mine could be converted with the higher latch.

Vudoo in Genesis II (Very butt heavy)

The new Revelation stock I'll be putting the Hawkins M5 DBM BM and Vudoo in tonight. John with Foundation bolted his Vudoo
into one so he could give me an idea of how it would balance ( A tad butt heavy) before I ordered one. Pricey, but beautiful, and
solid as a rock, very functional.
