(I'm not sure where to put this post, but here looked as good as any place.)
I have several sealed tins of ComBloc Milsurp ammo & would like to know what is in them without opening them. My research only got me so far. I do know the ammo is corrosive. My research found contradictory information so I'm not sure what is what.

One tin is 7.62x25 (I believe). From what I can decipher it is brass cased, but also ranging/spotting(?) whatever that means, if it's even correct. I have no idea how many rounds are in the tin, when & where it was made.

The other tins are 7.62x54r. Pretty sure they're copper washed steel case, heavy ball ammo. Again, not sure of the quantity, when & where it was made.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks jonnyc for the country of manufacture. I've figured out that the 7.62x25 can holds 800 rds, but still are not sure how many are in the x54R tin.

I thought the 7.62x54 tins came is quantities of 440 rounds?

Its like jonnyc said.

Bulgarians made 800 round cases of 54r in 2x 400 rds, in cans, Hungary did too,
Russia, Poland, Ukraine, East Germany, did 440 rd 54r x 2 in a wooden crate, Czech's put 800 in a can in a crate.
Yougoslavia made 1,000 round crates of 4x250 rd American like ammo cans in there, and some odd small ones.
Some country made 300 rds X 4 in a crate, but thats the limit for a one man carry

85 grains x25 and the yellow tip heavy ball is 182 grain.
Good ammo.

You are lucky there is still paint on yours. Lots of the spam cans we recovered overseas the paint had deteriorated, so we had no idea what was in them until we cracked them open, which is a lot of fun, esp. if you don't have the special commie can opener. I finally started carrying one on my truck and another in the SSE kit when we did raids.

Thanks much guys, your help is much appreciated. I thought the cans were a bit small for 440 rds, but 400 seems about right. Thanks for the bullets weights too.
