Had a very memorable day afield with my ten year old son in NW Colorado chasing doe speed goats. His first time hunting big game with dad and he did great! There were antelope everywhere on this little chunk of public land. When the boy saw this particular herd of 22+ animals, he couldn’t resist trying for a stalk.
Lots of maneuvering around and a bit of crawling, I was able to make a 319y poke. Boy was a good hand and carried my pack/rifle for an hour march to the truck. I carried the quarters out in game bags over my shoulder (like a bloody Santa Clause).
Rifle is my do it all Sako A7 30-06 with 180g Accubond handloads at 2,875. Pronghorn dropped so fast I was worried I’d missed.
Meat is well cared for and cooling down; tomorrow is butchering day. We are blessed.
