Just noticed this...

Take a look at the plate for the red dot, where the rear sight is - the rear sights may or may not be integral to the plate.

When was the change made?

It started this year. The 365 Spectre Comp was the first to have the updated cut, retain rear sight. It's still an RMSc footprint.

Interesting.

Do you think that newer shelf can be milled away to make room for a Trijicon RMRcc (as to NOT use a plate and get it to sit lower on the slide)?

Called JagerWerks and Maple Leaf to verify - no go as of now.

Already too much "meat" has been whittled away, and further milling may compromise the firing pin block.

I've heard about this on different Forums and several Reddit posts, as was similarly commented on in the above thread, but man...

...the fit is apparently that poor that some folks chose to ghettoshim their Romeos and Holosuns on the P365XL!

Top one’s mine.

The front - to - back fit isn't so great...

...if it was tight, I would be less concerned about the Holosun fracturing.

We'll see how it holds up with use...

I have given up on all use of mounting plates of Red dot optics on slides ! They are too high and the mountings to the slide sketchy and ill fit. Look around there are different folks who will mill the slides to the specific optic for direct mount.

No plates necessary for the SIG P365XL and any red dot with the Shield RMSc footprint, these are direct mounts.

SIG apparently had poor QC with a bunch of slides, and milled them imperfectly...

And as one would anticipate - the (corporate) response was that "SIG was only concerned about its own Romeo red dot sights."

Just throwing this little addendum in for kicks.

It’s a three - stage trigger!

There’s a very noticeable, gritty “second stage” before the “third stage trigger break.”

Mine doesn’t have a gap, but one of mine has a similar trigger, but the other is clean and breaks nicely.

The gritty one is the dry fire gun anyway, and it doesn’t bother me or slow me down at the range regardless (got it for a trade with the Holosun as a backup, pretty good deal to me for a 228 I never ever shot in the almost 10 years I had it, like the 225 and 226 better).

I have a 365X w/ the newer style cut coming. I'll likely never put an optic on it, but I didn't want the taller sights. Besides one 365 XL, the 365s I've had all have good trigger pulls, nice and crisp with a nice click on reset. My XL was the worst, and let it go. Luckily having two Xs..I'll at least have one decent trigger.

I suspect SIG milled everything perfectly for RMSc. But Holosun in the same footprint is just a little bit longer. If you bring it up with them, they'll say "not our problem, buy Romeo Zero, it fits fine".

Maybe, maybe not.

But yes, SIG’s response was consistent with what you said.

I just saw a P365 with the new optics cut at Cabela's. Sig doesn't list this as an option on their website, however I saw it with my own eyes.

Note that with the P365XL and the P365X they added a P to the end of the part number that indicates the new optics cut.

365XL-9-BXR3P
365X-9-BXR3P

I've seen the P365X, P365XL Specter Comp, and P365-XMacro with the new optics cut at local gun shops, but I can't seem to find a P365XL with the new optics cut in the Twin Cities and some of the dealers are also out of stock of any version of the P365XL.

To be honest I have no need for a slide milled for an RDS. An RDS just won't work for my carry methods. But I would prefer the rear sight to be mounted in a dovetail groove in the slide and not on a removable plate.

I wasn't overly impressed by the P365-XMacro grip module. It wasn't bad, but it really didn't fit my particular hand as well as my modified XL grip module. But I can see that the replaceable backstrap is a big plus and most people would probably like it.

I also held a P320-XTEN. Compared to the P365XL it's a HAND CANNON! I'm interested in buying one, however I'm going to wait until they get the feeding bugs worked out of the magazines and I want to see whether or not there are still any legitimate concerns with uncommanded discharges with the P320 series. It will be interesting to see if they can show any legitimate testing to prove that there is a problem at trial.

The 320 X Ten is a peach, a Glock 29 is a hand cannon.
