well I am stuck between these 2 at the moment
Beretta 92fs or CZ 75B
the CZ is $60 more then the Beretta
what do you guys think about these choices

Can't go wrong with either, but I have several Berettas so I hafta rep my set, lol.
Budget a couple more $$ for the steel small parts upgrade kit for a new production 92FS. Its a perfectly usable gun as is, but the kit is easy to install and greatly improves the overall feel of the gun, imo.

Tough call there. While i don't own a CZ 75 or Beretta 92. I have their clones. Tri-star C-100 and a Taurus 92. I like both very much. Accurate guns. The C-100 is lighter. If i wanted to carry one. It would be the C-100.

I have both and like them well. I have medium hands and the CZ just plain sets in nicely.

The 92 takes more concentration for me to make sure my mechanics are spot on since the grip is a bit girthy for me.

Hopefully your LGS has both available for you handle side by side and pick the one that speaks to you.

I like Traditional Double Action (TDA) pistols, but I like them to have decockers.

The Beretta 92 has a decocker, the CZ75B doesn't (unless it is a BD model). I know you want it for a range gun, but I'd choose the one with the decocker.

I own both, and really like both along with the companion set of iconic handguns: Sig P226, FN HP35, S&W 59 series, 1911, Walther P38 & PPK/S, Tokarov TT33 , …

BUT I have never had any shooter I invited to the range - young or old, newbie or experienced, small or large stature - who DIDN’T like the CZ75. They might have liked some of the others, but the CZ is always in the top favorites. It’s ergonomics are superior for a wider range of hand sizes.

I own two versions of the Beretta and six versions of the CZ.

The Berettas are okay. Nothing wrong with them. Good service pistols.

I like the CZ's better. They fit my hand better, the triggers are generally better, I shoot them better.

FWIW, my FiL has one of each and also prefers the CZ.

Both the CZ and the Beretta make for very decent range companions. With my smaller size hands I would opt for the CZ for a better fit and overall ergonomics. They only Berettas I can get a halfway decent grip on are the ones with the straighter backstrap on them and with the slimmer grips.

I've owned both.

The regular Beretta 92 FS is too large in the grip for me and the slide mounted safety lever is hard for me to hit. Otherwise, the Beretta is very good and easy to shoot. Perhaps some very thin G-10 grips would make the Beretta better for my hands. Of course, I've not tried one of the 92s with the slightly smaller grip frame, it could be a game changer . . . except for the slide mounted safety thing. Which would make me want the pricey X Performance model. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/beretta-92x-performance/

The CZs fit me better. A frame mounted safety CZ would be my choice in this thread for a range gun. Otherwise, I'd want the decocker model for a home defense gun.

My vote is 92FS because of nostalgic reasons from the service. But I've owned a CZ75B before, so if I hadn't have served I'd say flip for your decision then.

Own both. Both are great, like others said flip a coin.

If you want plain Jane versions, also consider buying Turkish clones so you can actually get both.

I actually like my knockoffs better, if you're talking about regular versions.

I'm 5'10" with a Browning Hi-Power being the perfect fit grip for me, followed closely by the CZ P01.

Only 5' 9" with CZ sized hands. ;)

I'm 5'6" and wear a size 8 (men's small glove).

While the standard 92FS (non-Vertec/non-92X frame) does feel like a beer can in my hand, the 92 has always been more workable for me than the CZ75B. Whenever I see comments that the CZ75B is small hand friendly, I'm always convinced those commenting must not have small hands. The CZ75B DA trigger reach is long, and while folks often say - just use it as a single action gun - the thumb safety is also a very long reach.

The Beretta 92 has a safety/decocker. Since the gun is a DA/SA gun, the decocker function is the prime feature of the lever. I work the Beretta safety/decocker at ground speed zero, so there isn't a need for easy access to that lever, though I can reach it just fine. On the other hand, if working the CZ as a single action gun, the CZ thumb safety is a lever that needs to be worked at speed.

I'll grant you, that as a "range gun" as the OP wants, a CZ75B, used in single action only, with no need to ever really work the gun in DA or work the thumb safety, there probably isn't much downside. However, if I'm working a DA/SA gun, I'd still rather have a decocker that the Beretta has and the CZ75B doesn't.

They're both really nice and the Beretta is the more well-known, but CZ75s fit my hand better than the big Beretta.

Parts, mags and accessories will be slightly easier to find for the Beretta.

One thing about the CZ though: if you get one, you will be part of an elite clique, as you are "in the know" and thinking outside the box a bit. Just like us HiPower guys. ;-)

I sold my 92FS to get a CZ 75D PCR. Yep, the 92FS safety lever is also a decocker. That lever on the slide of the 92 was hard for me to reach whether stabbing the safety off or swinging it down to decock. I can hit the CZ 75D frame mounted decocker with ease. To help the PCR accommodate my hands further, I put on a longer slide release lever from the CZ P01 and thinner grips.

Now, if that 92X Performance (with different grip and frame safety) had been around when I first bought my 92FS . . . well, I'd still have bought the 92FS simply due to cost.

Speaking of frame mounted safety levers on Berettas, my 81BB's safety levers are in the exactly right place for my thumbs. No decocker, though. The 81BB is either cocked and locked for SA or hammer down for DA. Interestingly enough, the 81BB with its fat-for-caliber-grip fits my hands very much like my CZ 75D PCR.

-)

Not in my opinion.
Mec-gar is the OE maker for CZ. You can find mec-gar mags on 100s of websites.
Act mag also makes CZ mags, I've got some, they run great.

For parts, who makes parts for a berreta 92 besides beretta? Landgon tactical is the only place I know of.

But for CZ, you got CGW, CZ custom, armory craft, enmann tech and a few others.

CZ is one of if not the most used brand of pistol in competition, the holster selection is huge for all CZ pistols. I can find a holster for my shadow 2 with a few clicks, my beretta 92X Performance not so much.
