When I got my 1862 a couple of months ago it had an intermittent problem of binding. It was used but shot very little. It was as it was shipped from the factory. It functioned, but not very smooth. And it had the binding issue. I delivered it to @Jackrabbit1957 and just received it back. As expected it was a bang-up job and I am very pleased with the outcome. As I understand it, this was a booger to figure out the binding. I'm not sure why, but I'm glad he was able to figure it out. I probably would have gotten frustrated with it. It was a full tune, and it appears to run like a top. Not that I'm going to, but this thing is competition ready.

I love the size and feel of this gun. I'm not a large man and the size and feel of the 1862 really fits me. I am unable to shoot it this weekend, but probably next weekend.

The arbor is the cylinder pin on a Colt. Uberti arbors do not bottom out in the arbor hole. The cylinder gap is affected by the wedge. Drive it in too deep and the cylinder binds on the forcing cone.
that makes a ton of sense! Guests the question is why does Uberti do short Arbors?

They seem to feel it's a good thing to be able to adjust cylinder gap with the wedge. The problem is it makes the whole system weak. It affects accuracy and causes wear. If the arbor bottoms out in the hole you have a solid system. You have the same cylinder gap all the time. You can drive the wedge in with a five pound hammer and it won't change cylinder gap.

It's just a bunch of steel parts so yes ship away. A note of caution though. I dropped it off on Friday and yet to be accepted in their system. Lots of guns and ammo is disappearing. A friend that ships a lot has had a few packages pop open in the last year.

that’s not good! but Stuff happens, not scared! that’s why I use fiber tape. No accidental pop open. Would also be worth it to mail with a Apple Air Tag

Just glue extra layers in the corners and inside top and bottom. The apple air tag will show up with the empty box.

One company has lost many tens of thousands of rounds in the last year!

now that’s common sense funny!

Alaska is a different world. When I was up their it was survival. Working 20 hours a day or fighting to survive the situation alive. I spent many a month with only a sat phone for emergencies.

I wish him well! And miss his posts.

dang man! I would have called for a evacuation in my Sat phone from day 2!

Jack can do a fine job. He "resurrected" my ancient DGG 1860, and turned my 1862 into a 100% perfectly functioning pistol. It was also new, but was quite the problem child. But for a small game survival pistol, it had to be 100% and he done it!

Would be cool to drop ship @Jackrabbit1957 the cheapest Pietta Brasser and see what he could do!

Send it! I'll do it up right and who ever sends it shoot the crap outta it and lets see how long it lasts, been curious about that for a while now. Gotta be an open top.
