For reference it's this model:

I went to clean the Victory last week. what I thought was just carbon buildup in the flash holes was actually a pile of lead. A rather significant pile when it was all said and done. Soaked it in ed's red for 5 days. While I got some out, it remained pretty clogged up and I actually scratched it up pretty bad in the process. A call to S&W has a new one on order for me - no charge, even though I said I messed it up, so that's pretty awesome CS right there.

However, I suspect the new one will lead right up in a short time as well.

the pistol shoots more accurately than I can, and there is no evidence of any other issues with it either. Just lead in the comp/hider/brake

Anyone had any experience with any of the other aftermarket available brakes - maybe any of the ebay specials that might be better in that regard?

They are lead build up magnets. Ask your self, do you really need a comp on a 22lr pistol?

I have a Valquartsen Scorpion with no comp because I heard they were a pain to clean up.

Are you using lead bullets? I only use copper in my victory, cci, very clean after.

Having a comp on a pistol shooting anything other than jacketed bullet is the only exception I make to not cleaning a pistol after every shooting session.

I really isn't bad if you keep on top of it and not let it build up

lead bullets. only shoot automatch. and probably will for ages to come. Promised myself i would never be caught short again. Bought many cases when they became available after the obama era shortage.

I remove flash hiders and compensators from any firearms that have them and replace them with thread protector caps. Too much work and upkeep for so little benefit...

the volquartsen comp also builds up lead but it took a while for it to be noticeable. you get some in the flash holes? and around the inner part of exit hole. i only really had to tackle the problem once though i had been using it for several yrs. it was only the last outing cleaning i noticed it. maybe it became more noticeable with a particular bullet lot. i shoot fed automatch the most.
