I went to the Tulsa Gun Show on Saturday and it was amazing. For those who haven't been the show is held in the Tulsa County Fair Grounds IPE building which is a large impressive building with eleven acres of floor space. There's probably 60 acres of parking and when I arrived at 11 am it took me about 20 minutes to find a place to park because every spot on the fairgrounds was filled. I had to wait for someone to leave to get a parking spot. It was about 40 degrees outside and a long cold walk to the door.
Inside there was at least 20 thousand people and in about 10 minutes my head was spinning from dodging people and looking at tables. The crowd was friendly and excited and I stayed about two hours in which I managed to sell a Model 70 rifle, buy 50 rounds of new Nosler brass, and a box of Sierra bullets. I talked to the owner of Champlin Firearms in Enid and I reminded him that about 30 years ago he took me into his vault and let me hold the double rifle that Robert Redford used in the movie Out of Africa. He told me he still owns the rifle. I went home happy but every year I tell myself I won't go again until I have another rifle to sell.
