Which AR stripped lower for an AR neophyte? Anderson? Spike? Ruger? F1?

Nothing wrong with Anderson lowers. As long as they are machined to the specs then they will work just as well as a more expensive lower. The only differences will be the finish and possible machining marks.

Another good alternative are lowers from Palmetto State Armory.

The majority of my builds are on either Anderson or PSA lowers and I haven't had any issues with them.

Ive used multiple Andersons and PSAs and wouldnt hesitate to order more.
Every manufacturer can have a lemon now and then, even the "boutique" brands. We just hear about the occasional bad budget lowers more often because of the sheer volume they ship.
If 99.9% of Anderson lowers are perfect, and they selll 30K a year, that means there are 30 bad ones out there.
If Spike sells 1000 in the same time with the same reject rate, thats only 1 dud....
Anyway, they both have great customer sevice and will gladly replace an out of spec lower if necessary. Buy with confidence.

I have a Ruger, Sig, Aero, Anderson and Matrix... All are nice... The higher price does bring with it a better finish... IMHO... But the three I use for regular hunting are all Anderson... Cheap and reliably spec'd... Plus I don't mind scuffing them up on an outing... And coating them when I get the urge to change up the looks... The sig is an older billet Model and functions/looks/feels really nice... To me billet in all flavors are really nice... I live on a pretty meager income so I pinch where I can without skimping on usefulness...

Palmetto State, obviously.

I've had great luck with PSA.

Anderson, Aero and PSA are all plenty good spend your money on barrel, trigger and glass.

SOLGW receivers are very well machined to tighter tolerances than most other brands.

If you are new to AR-15 assembly game, going all PSA for parts has an advantage. If something is not right, buying all the parts from the same place gets you out of the "blame game" when you call customer service.

A quick internet search says Anderson isn't the highest quality? I would probably be better off getting 1 or 2 high quality receivers than a bunch of low quality ones. I can't foresee ever needing more than 2 AR's. I am leaning towards a Spike 5.56 receiver and a Spike 9mm receiver.

Aim Surplus has good prices on Areo Precision stuff most of the time. Give them a look if you want to save a buck or two. Of course you'd still have to pay your FFL fee but that's a given lol.
After seeing lots of lowers at gunshows with Dad, I'd be willing to say Areo Precision is probably one of the best quality companies out there to be honest.

I’m not up to speed on the new laws but if I were you I’d buy as many as you can comfortably afford and put them back for future builds. Think of 6 as practical, grab at least one that looks better than basic, and factor in any children into the buying equation.

I like Aero and SOLGW for looks and good fit but also own PSA, Anderson, and RRA.

My dad likes Rock River as well! He has a 5.56 SBR RRA build and it's solid.

Meh on the magazines. If you vacation like I do, know this: I’ve never been stopped at the State line anywhere so they could search my vehicle for newly purchased magazines. Apologies if that’s less than High Road but silly laws get silly treatment.

Anything mil-spec is good to go. Shop price and availability.

Lol the way Colorado worded their law, the gun shops just take apart the mags and sell them as "repair kits" and then you can put them together at your house.

Global Ordnance currently has their South Korean SHK steel AR15 magazines on sale for $5 each.

Since they are made from steel they are much heavier than aluminum or plastic magazines but they are very sturdy and they work well.

Might want to load up on them while you can. You can order up to 80 at a time.

GO is GTG. I've ordered from them multiple times.

The only problem I've had with Anderson lowers concerns the aesthetics. I just don't like their style of markings. But unless you're a perfectionist, Anderson lowers will work perfectly well, and are generally cheaper.

It sounds like the backlog for the BG check is crazy.
One guy stated he bought a gun on the 8th and is 3,xxx in line as of yesterday.

I jumped on ammo and stuff again when covid first started ramping up.
I got in when the wait time was about 24 hrs for a BGC, which normally takes about 10 - 15 minutes.
A week later and people were waiting months to get it cleared, never mind the line to even get in the stores.

No one is sure what will happen if you're stuck in BGC purgatory when this BS goes into effect.
