Hi guys,
So I've kind of been bitten by the 10mm bug. Im just started down the 10mm rabbit hole so I'm looking for some suggestions, but no Glocks please. They are great guns and all, but they just don't work for me.

I'm interested in the Sig P220 and the Dan Wesson Razorback at the moment. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Depends on what you want it for. Just to have, then anything will do, I suppose.

I went looking for high capacity with as much velocity as I could get in 10 mm. For me, a 9 or 40 lacked power and a 45 lacked capacity for what I was looking for. I didn’t want polymer and it had to have a 1911 like trigger. I didn’t want to pay double for a name and I wanted aftermarket options.

If you are thinking 1911 then the Dan Wesson is a great option. I personally like the Colt Delta Elite. Both are solid choices.
Have you been able to shoot any 10mm yet?

Though the Razorback has a fine reputation, anymore I steer away from the 1911 platform in 10mm: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/sr1911-10-barrel-lower-lug-is-cracked.863248/

Yes I have recently become bitten by the 10mm bug after all of these years of saying I don't need that. I love the the 1911 platform and have my share but have been steered away from it in 10mm. I have my eye on that Xten as well. I'm not opposed to the G20 SF. Will have to follow this thread...

If you ever want to carry this gun in anything other than your hand or pocket, look at the options presented, and see if you can find the kind of holster you prefer for whatever application you intend, and make sure you can find a holster for a particular gun. It may help you choose.

A 5" 1911, like the Razorback ( https://danwessonfirearms.com/product/razorback/ ) would be an easy option to find nearly any kind of holster you want.

If the only P220 currently offered in 10mm is the Legion model ( https://www.sigsauer.com/p220-legion-10mm.html ), a holster for a 5" P220 will be less common than the standard 4.4" barreled models.

I'm not saying you'll never find a holster for some odd gun, but if you're splitting hairs between two guns, holster availability can be a factor.

I had both the Glock 20 and 29 and liked them well enough. But after buying a Smith M&P Compact in 10mm I sold the Glocks. It comes with a better trigger. Holds 15 rounds and I shoot it better. The Compact splits the difference in size between the G20 and G29. The high sights are easy to pick up and it is optic ready if I ever choose to go that route. And the price is about the same as Glock.

Best of all it is available with a 1911 style safety which I prefer for how I use it. I have no problem with a Glock style gun with no manual safety as long as it is carried in a holster that covers the trigger. But I often need a gun that is not stored in a holster. The Safety allows me to do that and keep a round chambered.

Sig P320 x-Ten with GrayGuns Extended mag well and base plate about $800 has the X frame which is the latest from Sig , the straight trigger with 3 pound pull , Sig latest fiberoptic/Tritium u shaped sight system and a 5" bull barrel ,light rail ambi safety and two 15 round Mags. I have a Glock 20, this is a way slicker unit

I want....

I like the XDm Elite 3.8" for carry. Shoots so well, and fits my hand so much better than the G29 that i carried for years (and sold off)

As far as older 10s go...If you want style and class look for a S&W 1006, or any of the harder to find 10XX models. These were made back before most factory 10mm rounds got neutered and went weak. The weight of the stainless helps tame recoil of the warm loads...they're wonderful to shoot. The price of 10mm S$W 3rd Gens, and the costly spare magazines are its drawbacks

Thanks everyone! To answer a few questions, I don't have a specific purpose in mind for this. Just want something different than everything else that I have. Would probably use it for woods walks and camping. I currently have a 4" 686 that I use in this role, so I'm not too concerned about capacity (as long as it's more than 6 rounds). I do prefer hammer fired over striker, but not ruling them out- just don't love Glocks. Like I said, they are good guns, just not good fir me. I do reload and typically get dies for any new caliber I get, unless it's a caliber that is relatively inexpensive to buy factory ammo.

There are also those who have successfully converted the .40S&W Mauser M2 to the 10mm Auto.
The pistol is designed around the .45ACP cartridge (.40S&W M2 magazines use a spacer to reduce the room) so it's a solid platform that is suitable for the conversion to the 10mm auto. Until not long ago factory replacement barrels to be modified could be easily purchased from the large online platforms of accessories and spare parts for guns but I don't know if they are still available now.
Then the chamber was reamed deeper and the spacer was removed from the magazines. It seems to me that the recoil spring was also replaced with a stronger one but I don't remember this detail.
Edit: no recoil spring change was needed to tame the 10mm recoil. It has been reported that the rotating barrel system of the .40S&W Mauser M2 soaks up the 10mm recoil just fine.

I recently replaced my G20
With an XDm Elite 4.5 and am very happy with it.

I am a Glock fan, just not sure much on the large frame calibers…

If I was still buying guns this is what I would do. I have the Glock, just to darn big for me. I like XDs better than Glocks
When I bought it, the only other choice was the Sig, too expensive and they only had single action. I love my P220 in 45.
