We here at TheHighRoad.org hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. If you're traveling, please be safe.

Having said that, let's keep the thread about firearms and the 2A. After all, we are still on THR.

So what are you doing or where are you going that involves shooting, hunting, reloading, etc.?

My mom's youngest brother always spent Thanksgiving morning hunting. Sometimes he showed up with some fresh game meat he'd bagged, other times not. Guess that's why it is called "hunting". ;)

He probably would had more success at our place.

These days, weather permitting, my guests and I usually spend a little time on Thanksgiving poking holes in paper with .22lrs or busing clays over the pasture.

Same to you…our local range is open. They have volunteer RO’s working 2 hour shifts. I’m going to probably go if weather permits it and bang out some ammo from a couple of guns I’ve never shot. One being a Dan Wesson Pistol Pak .357. I put the 8 inch barrel on it.

PS: checked weather. Cold and clear.

There will be four generations at my home. It is supposed to be windy so we will be stuck inside. No problem though. It either happens here or at our daughter's and we always manage to survive, nice weather or not. Snow is predicted for Friday so I'll be inside then too. I may venture out to the garage and work on building a new holster if the mood hits just right.

Much to be thankful around these parts. Going back to the family homestead and partake of the traditional Thanksgiving feast. Then I'll retire to a sheltered sunny spot at the edge of the back 40, sit on a stump and watch for a whitetail to emerge from the nearby game trail. Got a staving big buck on game cam and hope to best him this year finally-----if I dont fall asleep first (ya know, all that turkey and pie Lol).:D

I will definitely be heading to the range at least one day over the holiday.

Im on vacation on Friday, so that will more than likely be a range day. :)

I'm especially thankful, just got home from the hospital with my new baby girl less than an hour ago. Think we are going to skip all the Thanksgiving festivities and gatherings and just chill with baby girl but since I have a paid week off, I might get together with my uncle to go hunt a piece of land.....

I'm going out hunting in the am with a fellow high road member, then home to get the other 6 household mbers to our daighters place for dinner. Work on Friday then hunt yhe weekend.

Safe and happy Thanksgiving to everyone and to all those here in Wisconsin out in the deer camps as we are in the middle of the Rifle Deer Season. Stay safe and watch for your neighbor.

Last night on the way home from working the range I heard the local report that so far statewide there have been 6 shooting. 4 were self inflicted, one was a ND that killed a young boy. The last one they gave no details.
With what I have witnessed at the range from shooters sighting-in I am truly surprised there have not been more accidental shootings. In the past 3 weeks I have been in the company of some very careless people.

Our muzzle loader club had a turkey shoot on Sunday so I still need to finish cleaning up the flint lock trade gun... :uhoh:
Might check the zero on the 270 tomorrow before going to the friends for early dinner.

For the first time in 20 years my wife and I aren't traveling. This week I received my BCA 6.5 grendel upper, Lee dies, Starline brass and Hornady 123 grain sst bullets. Combined with powder and primers I already have I'm going to start putting together some rounds. I also plan on giving my brass tumbler a workout cleaning up 5.56 brass.

Must be a heck of a big pasture. =D

Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving all! Hope everyone had an enjoyable day and the recovery from so much delicious food is speedy.

At my folks' house earlier, I dusted off my Hornady LNL AP and set it up to load some 38 Super for the next time I shoot at the local bowling pin match. Didn't have time to actually load any because we had a noon get-together there and 4pm at the in-laws.

I did manage to sneak out and put 50 rounds through the old Mossberg when everyone else was yapping and napping this evening. download (1).jpeg
Missing the aperture, so I ran the elevator up and just used the irons. It ran perfectly and I was able to bag a Pepsi can and a water bottle.
