I have a Hakko Bed-35 which is much cheaper than the EOtech and for the price difference I'm very happy with it. Now I'm starting to see the Hakko Aimpoint type red dots, anyone vouch for the quality?

I have a Hakko TacPoint. It is a new one with the blue ring around the body, and big "TacPoint/Blue Ring" words on the side of the scope. The build look ok, packaging is good. It come with:
- 30mm low ring which fit Weaver, 1913 mount
- Front, and back flip cap
- 4 LR44 batteries, 2 installed, 2 extra
- 2 batteries cap retainers (1xRubber, 1xWire)

The dot has 4 intensity level adjustment knob, and 1 for off. The dot looks round at all intensity level. The brightest dot is enough for bright sun light.

It is made in CHINA, not JAPAN. I don't have any preference, as long as it works well.

I mounted on my scope test platform - a Ruger 10/22 :) I am looking forward to try this out this weekend. If it works well, I'll move it to my something else to see how it works. I'll take a picture, if interested.

tacpoint single ring

i have the tacpoint single ring mount on my colt 9mm. so far i'm happy with it, overall quality is excellent for the money. i did paint mine black to get rid of the "blue ring" lettering etc...

i can't really vouch for durability as i haven't really subjected it to more than shooting at this point. accuracy is excellent, as is it's ability to hold a zero. i sighted it in once and haven't had to mess with it since.

for the money i think it's hard to beat, i also have a c-more that i would and have trusted my life to. if it's to be used in a self defense/tactical role i would recomend spending the extra cash on an aimpoint or a c-more.

just my oppinion i could be wrong,
alan

Here's the picture as promise (not very good...) BTW, the scope came with a mount, but the one in the picture is not it. I use ATN's 30mm ring that I have, since it provide some off-set that I need.

Test report...

As promise, I want to report back on how it performed...

I took it out last weekend, unfortunately, it was not working. I worked on the 10/22 a little bit on Friday night. After I was done, I left it in my gun back in the garage. It was a cold night.

Morning came and I went to the range... I tried to turn it on, but no dot. My guess was that the battery was gone. Too bad, I thoung, and I proceeded on shooting other rifles (always brings more than one gun to a range. :)

When I got home, I checked the TacPoint. The dot re-appeared, without changing the battery. I check the battery and it is a no name L44. Need to get a good brand of battery to see if it would work right. It may be that it failed because of cold weather. I will try to put it into a freezer and see if I can reproduce the problem.

More on this later....

Well, I put the Tacpoint in my freezer today for 3 hours. I took it out and it worked, so it probably is a bad battery.

Hakko TAC1 or Tac2

Any one know if there is much of a difference for sight aquisition between the Hakko Tac 1 and the Hakko Tac2. Also any other variables. Thank You
