.30 Carbine BlackHawk??

Many of you guys are way too young. Surplus 30 carbine ammo was available for pennies a round in the 60s...

Apparently we made WAY too much .30 Carbine ammo. So much that allies still had so much on hand This Century they made whole guns to issue to police forces to use it up. Brazil:

Israel:

Which took original mags, no less

And still Israel, just a bullpup conversion for your Carbine, M1

How cheap does ammo have to be, commercial revolvers or self-loading rifles for whole national police forces, to develop and make whole new /guns/.

The main problem with a 30carbine hand gun is all the ammo is loaded with slower powder like H110, AA9, 2400 so it will cycle an m1 carbine and all the expanding ammo is intended for rifle velocity. So it sux in a handgun.
But if you were to handload 30carbine handgun ammo with say a faster powder so it's more tame in a handgun and use 30mauser HP bullets....

Why would you want to slow it down?

Although I love Blackhawks and would buy a 30 carbine model if I saw one locally, if I was to buy only one 30 Carbine pistol, it would be the AMT Automag III

Lots of fiction on ..30 carbine cartridge on this thread. Like 2400 type powder burn speeds that seem just fine in .327 mag but oh so slow in .30 carb ! And I guess the 7.5 " Blackhawk is so much louder than one of those snub .327 s !
Any way to users and admirers of the .30 black Hawk I agree they are fun and like any hi pressure magnum loud but not like a short barrel 5.56. They are fun revolvers and handy around a ranch and when scoped have a good 150 yard range of animals wolf or cougar size and smaller.Super easy and economical to load at any pressure range you want.

Uh yeah, it would, a lot.

So lowering velocity encourages expansion? That's a new one.
I guess, CraigC , that you didn't know them speedy boolits just zip on thru like a needle !
Or that there .30 Carb with a smaller barrel hole and operating at 40K PSI creates the magic crack of doom blast in that Blackhawk 7.5" barrel that the .327 Mag at 45K pressure just doesn't do !

With that in mind all those Ruger .30 Blackhawks that had just a couple rounds fired before owners abandoned all hope should be labeled "the Fud's demise" , or "how I became deaf because I didn't wear hearing protection around centerfire pistols" ,
BTW the recoil is very light , like the factory military ball 130 grain .38 special !

Yes.
and I find it no more "obnxious" that a full-up 357 loaded Max w/ W296/H110 -- which burns far less efficiently than the 30 carbine
Me too.
It would be almost as bad as me max loading h110 and 158gr magtip HPs or soft points for my 3 inch 357. I'm much better off using faster powder like unique and 125gr bullets.
