I started my LE career in 1993 and my initial agency was using 20" 1100's with magazine extension until switching over to 18" 1187P's a couple of years later. I transferred to a State agency in 2008 and was issued a 14" 1187P until I retired from full-time in 2018.

My only two 870's on the left, A TB and an Express Magnum: IMG_20230201_194419.jpg
I recently had a chance to pick up a beautiful shape 1100 Trap for $600 that looked mint but I'm setting aside funds for a nice .22lr rifle so I'll have to wait on it but I definitely plan on owning another Remington or two, an 1100 or two. I love Remingtons. They feel right

My Remington Premier Upland Over/Under in 28 gauge. A very pleasant shotgun to shoot and carry.

My Remington 1100, it was someone's waterfowl gun and the wood had lots of water damage. I got it for a song. I refinished it and made a 3-gun shotgun out of it. 10+1 capacity.

Just did an appraisal Monday. Three TBs with wood varying from ok to exceptional. Unfortunately, only one had had love and affection in the 40 plus year lifespan.
Values: $400-650.

I have several shotguns from Rem: a 100+ year old model 11, a very old model 17 (my second gun), a 410 wingmaster I got in 1977 at age 10 (my first gun), a 870 express I bought for about $150 at Kmart in the early 90's, and a 870 fully customized by SGT back when they were in Nashville I bought for a song. They all have given me good service, even though I haven't taken any game with the model 11- yet. thr turk .png thr turk 2.png
2 Florida turkeys I took last week with my 870 express using the 21" barrel.

View attachment 1141306 Not sure what year it is, i'm thinking its from the 70's
Yours has the flexi tab shell lifter/elevator as opposed to the chrome, guys much wiser than I may chime in and correct me but I'm pretty sure if yours is original, it would have to be mid 80's-ish...... I think if it was made in the 70's it would have a chrome elevator.

eta: If you were really curious, you could check the serial prefix but it's also possible that the felxi-tab was added later if you dont know your gun to be in 100% original config......

I purchased the flex-tab kit and installed it a couple years ago lol

In the past I've owned a 870, 870 TB, 870 TC, model 10, 11, and 31. Now it's just a 870 Wingmaster with a corn cob forearm I made. My first love are Remington SxSs. made in the 1800s and early 1900s. I have a 1873 hammer lifter, 1882 10ga with a barrel rifle liner for 40/60, two 1889s, and six 1894s - a A grade, B grade, C grade, and three F grade trap guns.

I'm a Remington shotgun fan. First one was an 870 12 ga 28" mod plain barrel in 1962 when I went off to Michigan for college. Many since.
A TB I bought out of our shop in 1975 is still with me after hundreds of thousands of trap loads, a couple slugs and a little steel shot.
I have given my boys each a pair of 870s. Also, an 1100 each.
I shot an 1100 (one of about ten I've had since '70) after my spinal fusion. I still shoot it for fun and with a skeet barrel during our combo league.
Present lineup includes the TB, a Classic, a regular Wingmaster, an Express (slicked up) for HD, another early Express with Jack West stock for the youth team, an 1100 Trap, another 1100 20 with mod and skeet barrels, and an 1100 field which will be another granddaughters high school trap gun. A 3200 for doubles and fun rounds it out.
Later this year I just might buy a new RemArms 870 to see how parts interchange.
Barrels, from full, mod trap, mod. i.c., skeet, riot, rifled slug and smooth bore slug. Two 28" expresses with Remchokes.
Trap, skeet, sporting, deer, turkey, duck, and terrorists, all covered.
Your faves?
Yep, I do like Remington shotguns as well! I've got an 870 12ga with a fully rifled barrel and I got it for $399 plus tax at a small shop in Colorado. It appeared barely fired so I snagged it up immediately! ( I wonder why???? ;))
I took it to the range and fired some 3in 1-1/4oz slugs and was like Holy Cow!!! That hurts!!!! I need to shoot some "normal" slugs and see how it does....

I put a Leupold RDS on it and a bolt on side saddle. I trimmed the fore end to let the bolt come back all they way as I wanted to keep 6 slugs on it instead of 4 lol. Also got a 5rd stock sock.

My first Remington shotgun was a 20 gauge 870 Wingmaster that I got for Christmas when I was twelve. I gave that to my son a few years back but it is still in my gun cabinet.

A few years later I bought an 1100 in 12 gauge. I used it quite a bit over the years and taped it with camo tape to use as my designated turkey gun. I bought an 870 Express 12 ga (3" chambers since my 1 100 was 2 3/4" ) and worked it over to be my new turkey gun and bought a rifled barrel and scope to switch out during deer season if I wanted to use it for slugs.

I hauled the 1100 out of the gun cabinet to work on it the last couple of days to clean all the tape residue off and give it a good cleaning. As I was sitting here a new recoil pad and o-rings arrived so I can work on it some more this afternoon. This was one of the first semi-retirement projects on the docket.

Favorite: my Grandfather’s Remington Mod 17. It’s 102 years old, smooth as butter, and I’ve taken countless grouse, pheasant, woodcock, and quail with it. Next is my 870 Special Field 20 ga IC fixed choke, perfect for upland game over a good dog.

I'm down to three. My 1963 1100 12 that has been everywhere and done everything, my 1976 Wingmaster Magnum 12 which is my waterfowl gun now, and my 1979 LT 20 with a straight stock set.
