Pair of Rugers

Here are a couple of Rugers that made their way home to me recently. We have a Redhawk and a Blackhawk. Oddly, these are my first Ruger made revolvers. I had identified a hole in the collection that needed to be filled long ago and the right deal finally made its way to me. The price was pretty fantastic on both and I couldn’t pass up on the deal.

The Blackhawk has a good turn line on the cylinder and it looks well used. But the finish is in nice shape overall and it doesn’t appear abused. It also shoots straight. The Redhawk is in excellent condition and performs as one would expect. I always knew Redhawks were big guns and were the flag bearer for hot magnum rounds, but this is one hefty iron.

My only real complaint is that they aren’t older examples. Thanks for looking.

My bank account does not like me taking long periods of time to reflect on my collection and where it is lacking.
Mine just gives up. :)

OP, a nice start indeed. You will be well served with both guns for a long, long time.

Be careful. Before you know it those two Rugers will quickly become 4… and then 6…and so on. ;)

Stay safe.

Nice purchase, congratulations! The beauty of the Redhawk is that they throw little cannonballs down range. You're going to have a fun time with them.

It gets better as time goes on. We all started somewhere. Good planning helps.
Yeah, good points. Due to good planning I've been able to amass a sizable collection. It was a long time ago but I remember starting somewhere, that me would envy this me, but I feel like I did a lot more shooting back then. Ruger revolvers have eluded me somehow but they have a home in the Ruger pile now.

How about three instead of a pair? I have some nice Ruger SA revolvers.

The top one is an original Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt the the middle and bottom 2 are a pair of New Vaqueros in 38/357.

When I was going to play Cowboy I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted Color Case Hardened or the Stainless so I bought 1 of each. Hey, back in the old West not many Cowboys carried 2 guns and if the were gun fighters and won a fight the gun they got from the loser probably wasn't going to match the one they had lol...

I'd lusted after S&W 29, but at the high price of $300 I could only dream. 1979 I walked into Wolfs sporting goods in Park city and saw my first Redhawk, it was under $200. The next day it was mine. The trigger reach was shorter than the N frame smith and perfect for me. For the next 10 years it was my only center fire deer gun, it was a death ray. I killed every buck I shot at with it. Spot and stalk. IMG_0333.JPG

The FUN with that Redhawk starts at 300 grains of lead.
That reminds me of the old dragster saying of “life begins at 200” I once had a bad habit of putting that bumper sticker on people’s trucks next to a sticker that said “big girls need love too”. I quit after the threats became a bit more serious.
