RIA mag question

I just picked up a Rock Island 56635 - full-size (5" govt) single-stack Tac Ultra 9mm/22TCM9R. It only came with one magazine.

I've found a source for more mags, at about $30 each. I'd like to know if anyone has successfully used the Metalform 10-round 9mm mag with one of these guns (or the other full-size single-stack RIAs) successfully. The Metalform are only $20 each, hence my curiosity.

The big difference between the RIA and Metalform seems to be that the RIA could be used for .38 Super, so it has no spacer within the mag body. The Metalform has a spacer at the rear. I'd love to save $10/mag but not if they won't feed reliably.

Thanks for any input.

I have several Metalform 9mm 1911 magazines that I use in my Rock Island. They work well.

Not an RIA but I have had good luck with Brownells 9mm 1911 mags in my Springfield,
don't know what they are now but they used to be about $25 ea.
They are a 10rnd mag.

RIA uses both Mec-Gar and Metalform magazines as their OEM mags with the 9mm and 38 Super single stack 1911's. I have used both brands in my RAI 9mm 1911 with a 9mm barrel and with a 38 Super barrel without any issues. Yes I use 9mm specific mags with the 9mm barrel and 38 Super mags with the 38 Super barrel.

You can order mags and parts directly from the Armscor/RIA web storefront here: https://advancedtactical.com/magazines/1911-magazines/9mm/

I bought Chip McCormack mags from Midway for my RIA Ultra 9mm. No problems with them and the OEM mag.

I’ve purchased several .45ACP Mec-Gar magazines for my RIA 1911 FS Tactical and they run flawlessly. I have also purchased additional RIA magazines and obviously they work perfectly as well.
