Will MTV Give this story a fair deal?

Guys don't date girls that can shoot them.
I find that hard to believe. If the guy really has good intentions why would he be afraid of being shot? Are they saying all guys who date deserve to be shot?

I like the idea of an woman willing to protect herself and wouldn't hesitate to date them.

Didn't that Marshall Eisen guy start a thread here asking for volunteers for that show?

Here's her email if someone wants to send an invitation to join us.....sorry, couldn't come up with a phone number.

*email address edited out to keep the poor woman from being inundated. -Justin*

Since the issues of bias and presumptions have been brought up : think about what your response to this girl would've been if someone had put up a link to her get getting an award from PETA for turning in some kids who killed a cat when she was in highschool . Liberal ? Busy body ? Ecofreak ?

Just a point to ponder .

Lennie Bowe believes in her sidearm,
even though she fears that guns and
social life don’t mix. "Guys don't
date girls that can shoot them."

I wonder if by them she was referring to guns and not guys.

MTV = MMTV (maybe music television)

I remember one time many years ago MTV actually played music videos.

Now in a average 24 hour programming day you can expect to see,

1 hour of political spin (during elections)
11 hours of the real world
6 hours of road rules
5 hours of other assorted reality television shows
1 hour of music videos

So, she can't find a guy to date, and it's because she's good with a gun...

Back in my single days, I once started talking to an attractive young woman because of guns. She was moving in across the hall, and was carrying a gun case. Turned out to be a Browning Hi-Power, a Ruger Mark II, and a Sig 230. We had fun. On and off the range...

Perhaps someone (preferably one of the THR ladies) should send her a link to this thread and site? It might reassure her to know that there are many who find that combination worthwhile, without us coming across as overheated males desperate to find a woman who shares our interests. ;)

I would have felt the same simply because kids who routinely abuse animals are budding psychopaths. Just because PETA may reward the conduct doesn't mean its automatically bad conduct.

And on a personal level if anyone abused my pet, I probably would have beat them to within an inch of their lives, no matter what their ages were. :fire:

While MTV is biased on the issue True Life does a pretty good job staying objective. I'm looking forward to this.

Works both ways.

Thank the leftists for painting a picture of the "average gun-owner" for anyone that doesnt know better. May as well thank hollywood as well, since the only civilians that they have carrying guns in the movies are cops and crooks. Most people uneducated about them fear them.

My guns have been an issue in past relationships, it'll probably be an issue again, even if my next relationship lasts a lifetime.

According to my online TV schedule, MTV's True Life: I'm a Gun Owner is going to air tonight at 10pm Eastern. I thought they said it would be January before it was ready, or is this a previous episode?

False alarm, its "I'm Obese", not "I'm a gun owner"

Wonder how the TV guide messed up.

Yep I saw that listing also on my online TV guide. I was dissappointed to see that it was about obease people, but I watched it anyways because it looked interesting and it was. Anyhow does anybody know or can nail down a solid time for the True Life: I'm a gun owner episode to air. I would love to see MTV's take on this.

I'm with glocksman on this. Turning in someone who killed a cat is proper behavior. Cruelty to animals for cruelty sake is not laudable behavior and rightfully is considered criminal. It is brutish and studies do show that many a psychopath and murderer start this way. I don't think the group giving the award should cause us to judge otherwise positive behavior negatively.

As for all those commenting on the dating comment, give the woman a break. First, even if she doesn't trust men (nothing in the comment suggests that, but many here seem to be making that assumption), she was assaulted in her own home (if her mother wasn't there to chase him off it likely would have been a sexual assault)- women in that situation often distrust men, strangers anyway, and it is normal for that to be the case. Second, as already said, the pronoun "them" seems to refer to the noun "gun" not "men". Third, is this so hard to believe? How many of us single guys on THR and TFL have complained about gun ownership hurting our dating life when women find out? Just because most shooters are men doesn't mean most men are shooters. Is it really hard to believe that women may face the same problem, maybe more so since in addition to the usual prejudices against guns, guns are seen as a "guy thing" and she is a woman doing a "guy thing" (not something usually good for one's social life).

I agree, 1 music video, they have too much other stuff on. However on MTV2 that's another story. Fuse also plays a lot of music videos
