My CCW discovered in 'Men's Warehouse'

The New Yorker had an article about a month ago about this expensive French tailor with a shop in Washington, D.C. who does the suits for most of the presidents and diplomats. It mentioned that he was quite used to tailoring with extra room for a gun.

I've heard from a number of people that Men's Warehouse was very friendly about such matters.

Does it bother anyone else that representatives from a foreign country can carry a firearm in our nation's capitol but, we cannot?

For better or worse, I am in a "suit most days" kind of job, and I have had nothing but good experiences with MW. I highly recommend that if you carry IWB, get the suit tailored with the holster or holster and gun in place. You'll be amazed at how much more comfortable you'll be. Also, if you carry in an ankle rig ever, you can do the same.

I was shopping for sport coats and mentioned that I occasionally needed to carry something on my belt that I didn't want people to see, so I needed one that would be loose enough. The salesman asked if it was a gun, and when I said yes, just told me to keep the jacket unbuttoned and I wouldn't have a problem.

I love TN.

Slightly off topic

When carrying a Gun, with a CCW, its always best, if you know you are buying clothes or where ever a Gun may be seen is to leave it somewhere else. This is what can cause problems with the CCW law, and have people Vote against us the one that want to carry a gun, the idea of carrying a Gun concealed is to keep it concealed and know one But you should know, mistake or not its a Bad move to allow it to be seen.

Sorry Wizmar, but I have to disagree with you on this point. The reason the people at MW are so cool with people coming in with thier CCW guns is because they have seen so many customers with guns that they know it is a non factor. They know us to be law abiding, decent folk, with moderate to high incomes. We tend to be polite and respectful and apreciate them not making a big deal of our choice to carry a firearm. While I don't want to get into the whole open carry debate I personally think it would be good for more regular citizens to see us carrying on a daily basis. Maybe it would help them to realize it not such a bid deal.

Though I don't have a CHL, I'm sure if I did carry, pretty much nobody here would bat an eye. That's the beauty of being in VA.

By the way, even if they were anti-gun, Men's Wearhouse still rocks.

I worked at a men's clothing store (Jos A. Bank Clothiers) and yes they get this a lot. I personally like Bank's suits better than Men's Warehouse, but you get the point. Anywhere that sells men's suits will get plenty of detectives and the like who carry in them. I would try to avoid department store suits though, I worked in one of those for a while too and the suits are crap and their employees tend to be more sketchy.

Men's Wearhouse seems to be of fine quality. What you need to realize is cleaning the suit on a regular basis is important to the life cycle of the fabric. You take a shower everyday because you feel the dirt/salt/sweat, etc. on your body. Well, it also gets on your suits and the salt will dry rot the material if left there. True you don't have to dry clean the suit every single time you wear it but every couple of times you should have it cleaned...it will help keep your suit longer. My family owns a couple dry cleaners in Tampa so I can confidently say I know *** I am talking about. :neener:

I bought a sports coat from the MW years ago. Wasn't carrying but told the guy helping me that I packed a gun now and again and would like the coat to conceal.
His response? Well, you should have brought your outfit with you so we could fit you properly.

Told me when I got home to check the fit for concealment and if it wasn't to my liking, bring it back.

Just can't beat that kind of service.

A few years back I was getting fitted for a suit at the MW in Manassas, VA, and I was wearing my Beretta 96 IWB. The only reaction I got from the woman who was fitting me was a question: "Will you want to be able to wear your gun with this suit?" I told her yes, and she measured my waist accordingly.

No worries. They get future business from me.

I have a closet full of MW stuff. They're great about fitting pants for IWB. Never so much as a raised eyebrow.

Quality is good and the price is decent.
