Seeing the weather, I'll probably be at the gun show @9AM wearing a gray NC State shirt (red lettering) and jeans. Will have at least one other person with me.

Just to check: Who all is going this time?

Cool. I'll probably be in line a bit before 9.

PS. To everyone coming don't forget to go here to print a coupon for $1 off admission.

Since my deal for the nickel-plated Makarov fell through, I may or may not be buying a new gun depending on what I find. I'll be scouring the show hunting for one of the following:
Star BM
Zastava Md. 70
FEG PP Clones (PA-63, BR-61, etc.)

Well, we're off to the show ~8:45. Don't forget your raingear, kids.

Forecast changed to:
Saturday: Mostly cloudy with the chance of sprinkles or light rain, mainly during the morning to midday hours. Highs in the low to mid 70s.

Well, I made it to the gunshow this morning. I saw cls12vg30 standing at the door w/ someone(who?) Yall might not of saw me but I walked by at about 9:10 w/ a bright blue and white raiders T-shirt on. Maybe you remember. Anywayz the show was pretty good. :) Couldn't make it to the range. sorry. :( I was at the show till after 3:00. :D

Met cls12vg30 at the range, got to shoot my Mosin for the first time - very impressed. Hopefully more people can make it next time around.

9, I was standing with KMKeller. Were you waiting in line when you saw us? Sorry I missed meeting you. It was good to meet all the guys at the range.
It was a good show. As I mentioned, my deal for the plated Makarov didn't work out, so I was there with the $$$ I had budgeted for that purchase. Didn't find any FEG Walther clones, and all the Star BM's were pretty worn. I ended up sort of throwing caution to the wind and picking up a beautiful stainless Llama Micromax .380. If you don't know, this is a compact 1911-based pistol made in Spain, it looks just like the Colt Compact Government .380 and seems to be mechanically identical, but the Llama cost a lot less. I've never bought a gun without doing extensive research before. Tried it out at the range, it is quite accurate, and has a nice crisp trigger pull, but I did have a couple failure-to-feeds with hollowpoints, but the action seemed to get better after 100 rounds, as I expected. Gave it a good cleaning when I got home.
It breaks down just like a 1911, so it's a bit more complicated than my Makarov. But the Llama is also quite a bit thinner and lighter, and the finish is beautiful. We'll see how it turns out. Having lived in Spain as a kid, I always wanted one of the Spanish pistols.

cls12vg30 - Good to see you again, and glad you like your purchase. For those who were there, I was the one wearing the black TFL Alumni shirt and hanging out with the bald dude (Fed168). I ran into a bunch gents that I shoot with at the NCPCPL, but cls12vg30 was the only THR'r that I bumped into.

^ Hrm. If you were at the gun show for a while, I may have actually seen you - I saw someone with a TFL Alumni shirt head out the exit (I was on the bench by the door, my friend was wrapping his shotgun back up). Perhaps that was you?

New to Forum. Need directions please...

I am looking on how to contact and drive to Windy Hill in Elkin. I am mostly a clay target shooter and am always looking for a new place to shoot. I live in Asheboro and shoot at Ohpir Skeet Field almost exclusively.

Thank you.

Yeah a bunch of guys from the ncgun mailing list are meeting at 9:30 Saturday morning in the restaurant in the Jim Graham building. One guy is going to make signs to put on the table(s) so we all go to the same place.

Shooting Sports Inc membership dues notices were just received. Those of you who wanted to join should be prepared to get on the waiting list next month.

I've never been to the Greensboro gun show. Tell me about the show this coming weekend. How does it compare in size to Raleigh? Is it the same vendors as Raleigh? How is the ratio tactical to deer hunting gear?
Thanks.

Has anyone ever been to the C&E show in Winston-Salem? Is it decent? This Saturday I'm either going there or the S&D show in Jacksonville. Winston-Salem is closer and I'm betting larger.

Christopher, Winston is nowhere near as big as Charlottte or Greensboro, and I find it varies a lot. Sometimes I leave satisified and other times I tell myself I won't go back. And they hit you up for parking as well. Anyway, I'll give it a try this saturday as I haven't been for about a year.

Hope its better than the one at Charlotte Merchandise Mart couple weeks ago; dismal show, short on dealers, and short on customers. Couple dealers pulled out on Sat night.

Me too. I'll be the ole geezer, pot belly, tan cap with Moto Guzzi logo. If you see me, say hello.

Ted, Lexington NC area.

Raleigh area FFL's

I'm going to be looking to do an FFL transfer to Raleigh in the next couple weeks, I thought someone had posted a good list of the local FFL's, but I can't find it anywhere.

So does anyone know who's got the cheapest FFL transfers in the area? The major stores all seem to be in the $30 range (PDHSC, Davi's, Young Guns, Gunworks). Anyone got a better deal than that?

hi,
I just stumbled across this thread...I do all my xfers at "east Raleigh jewelry & loan" ; a pawnshop on smithfield rd. in Knightdale. He charges me $10 per. Don't know if that's the homeboy discount or his regular price, I buy stuff there regularly. the owner, James, is pretty friendly. give them a call.

Hey ya'll, I go to NCSU and I'm on the rifle team there. Don't have a range pass for Holly Springs yet, but I hope to get one if they'll let me.

Welcome- I go to NCSU as well. ME major, NROTC midshipman. Got my range pass for PDHSC, probably going to get my membership there soon. I'll also be taking the CCW class in the near future.
