Well here I am. Still alive.
Sometimes I get to the computer at Lady45's home when she springs me for a day trip to look at houses.
I found a computer on another floor here that I can sneak onto in the odd hours. They kick me off when they find me so I usually sneak on in the wee hours when most are asleep.
It's a balacning act. The drugs dampen the pain but they really slow down my thought processes. After 48 years of never using anything stonger than over the counter meds this treatment is a real experience. Typing is a real experience since the keys sometimes "move" around.
I am still in the "shell" that keep my entire torso immobile. I have to go back to Harborview Hospital October 10 for another evaluation. At that time they will let me know if I need to stay in the hard shell of if I can transition into something more elastic.
Since I have no insurance and am here under Medicaid, I have realized that the only thing more screwed up in this country that the gun laws is our health care system.
Medicaid only allows one visit a month from a real doctor. So instead of being able to monitor my progress and adjust treatment according to my actuall recovery, everything happens on a month to month cycle.
After requesting to see a doctor for over three weeks, (the staff doctor has been on vacations so the attending nurse practioner saw me last month) I saw her today. Yes that's right I haven't seen a real doctor since late July.
I have developed several musterious "growths" on my skin on my arms and legs. They look like pink moles and I was concerned that is might be serious. than was diagnosed today as some word I can't pronounce than means infected/irritated hair folicles. All the doctor told me I could do was to have someone else take my linens home and wash them there since it MIGHT be caused by the detegents used here. She can't prescribe anything for this condition (even though she knows exactly how to treat it)becaue Medicaid won't pay for any needed medicine unless ther are prescribed by a Dermatoligst.
I had a brochitis flare up last month and asked for Robitussin CF. Since it isn't on the list of generally stocked medicines here I couldn't get it. Thankfully Lady45 brought me some she purchased out of her own pocket.
That's another thing. I'd like to also thank everyone who has been nice to her since she joined. She's really a great person. I had been trying to get her and her son to sign up and join in for months. I guess you can say I'll break my back to get new members here.
Now all I have to do is get her to give back my Colt .45.
I am trying to get them to allow me to bring in my own computer but they are concerned about it being stolen or vandalized. Plus they say I shouldn't sit in that position for too long.
I'll try top get back here more often.
Again I want to thank everyone who has sent cards and really appriciate those who havetelephoned.
Being able to talk to you has really helped me get thriough some rough days.
Bless Y'all
