I spoke to Bear - he said to say hello to all. He sounds great. He is so humbled and grateful for the folks in the firearm community.

I spoke to Lady45 , she and I had a great visit as well. A great Lady - Bear is in good hands folks.

OKAY!!! This is it folks!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!

I finally found a house to rent!!!!! It is small, but affordable and has no steps and is close to my sons' school so he can walk to school. It is empty now and we can move in as soon as we want.......except....we are a bit short on the amount needed to move in. I have requested early withdrawal on my retirement fund ....but it will not be here until October 1st.....I had no idea it took so long to process.....seems like it would be quicker than 2 months to me....but then I am not a financial expert.

If there is anyone left out there that could help out short term ....we still need about $1,000. I know it is a lot of money....but someone could make a good return of interest by October 1st if they wanted? Bear has a birthday in 10 days and I really want to get him home and get my son settled before school starts Sept 1. If there is anyone that can help.....PLEASE......private message me.....or something.....we need a bit more help.

With sincere thanks,

Lady45

Still Hanging In

Well just a short note .....

Tomorrow is Bear's birthday....and he is still in the nursing home. I had hoped that he would be home by now.....nothing is keeping him there except that he has no where to go. In order to move, we need rent for first and last month and a security deposit. I work for the school system so I do not get paid during the summer, so I was not prepared for this move financially. We still need approximately $1,000 to make the move. I have put in for a withdrawal from my retirement fund, but it will not be here until the first week in October. If anyone would like to make a short term loan until then with interest.....please private message me.

Otherwise, if you would like to call Bear and wish him a Happy Birthday....the number is 206-624-2385....it is a private line to his room and he has a private room now so anytime it okay!

Again, thanks to all that have helped and sent there well wishes in all forms.

What a Difference!!!!!!!!!

A Follow up!

Bear is being hijacked by fellow THR member, Bart Noir, on Saturday to the Portland Antique and Collectibles Gun Show. Sooooooo if you want to call for his birthday.....you will have to call Friday night or wait till Sunday. He is soooooooo excited. I have not seen him in this good of spirits since his accident. You have no idea what a difference it makes for him to have contact with the "real" world.

When things like this happen in your life, it makes you appreciate the little things and your "real" friends so much. And, just when you start getting down that the world is full of "thugs" and "me-ites"....you come upon a wonderful group like those we have come to know at THR. Boy did you pick a correct name for this forum!!! You guys are the best!!! Words could never express our thanks for all you have done for Bear and I. I just hope that some day I can pass it along to someone else....and that I have the opportunity to meet some, if not all of you, in person. NEVER forget.....that you have a place to visit in the Seattle area if you just say the word!!!!

We love you all!!!!

P.S. Bear's phone # again is 206-624-2385 :D

His B-Day

For those of you who would like to know, BluesBear had a great time today down Portland. Bart Noir, BluesBear and I went down there early this morning andit took most of the day to do. We had to get the assisted living center to let him use a wheel chair, so for his B-Day I wheeled him around. He was very excited about today and he had a wonderful time.

Ohh, and those of you who do not know, I am Lady45's son and Bear's "adopted son" He cannot wait until he can get out of assisted living, he isnt having much fun being around people who do not even know that they are there, let alone him.

Also although I probably do not understand how much you guys have helped us, I still have to say thank you for everything.

OK....Hopefully this will be the Last Post!!!

It looks as though we may just have a place. We found a house that was privately owned for rent. We are waiting on a credit check to come back...but the landlord seemed to think that even if it wasn't perfect....that with a little extra deposit money we could still have it. If all goes well we can move in this weekend!!!!!!!

But....if there is anyone out there that could help out with a small contribution ....it is going to take all I can gather to make this happen this week.....and I would like a little breathing room for pizza and beer...or some gas money to the people helping move.....and since I only get paid once a month at my job....the month may tend to get long!!

I hope that by next week, this will all be past us and Bear will be back with his witt and humor to bug you guys!!!

With much appreciation,

Lady45

Hey Lady!

Last post? Uhuh, i don't think so. I'm glad BluesBear is getting a place, but given all you've done for him (and us), I hope you hang around.

BTW, how was the Gun Show last weekend?

A Woman without something to say???

OK Anti Bubba...

you just went and made me do it!

When I posted.....last post (hopefully) ....I meant in this thread!!!

After all I am a woman.....and I redhead....you think I will run out of things to say or opinions? geez!

But on a serious note.....after finding such wonderful, caring and compassionate people that have welcomed me into their group as you all have......why would I leave now?.....and besides I like to shoot too!!

As for the gunshow.....I did not go....Bear and Bart Noir and my son went....I stayed home and packed boxes and goofed off!!! It was my birthday as well and I just enjoyed some down time. But thanks for asking!

I am keeping fingers crossed here ...still have not heard a final on the house....so everyone cross fingers and pray!!!

Huggs for all,

Lady45

Just had a nice chat with the Bear, he sends best regards to all.

He was aware that THR was down due to the storn and said for those of you who experienced withdrawal, just imagine how he feels, no THR for like * weeks.

Karen is working hard to find them some appropriate accommodations so he can get out of the recovery center, but in the meantime, he says he really enjoys hearing form you guys, so help fight boredom and enui, give the Bear a call - 206-624-2385

Well here I am. Still alive.

Sometimes I get to the computer at Lady45's home when she springs me for a day trip to look at houses.
I found a computer on another floor here that I can sneak onto in the odd hours. They kick me off when they find me so I usually sneak on in the wee hours when most are asleep.

It's a balacning act. The drugs dampen the pain but they really slow down my thought processes. After 48 years of never using anything stonger than over the counter meds this treatment is a real experience. Typing is a real experience since the keys sometimes "move" around.

I am still in the "shell" that keep my entire torso immobile. I have to go back to Harborview Hospital October 10 for another evaluation. At that time they will let me know if I need to stay in the hard shell of if I can transition into something more elastic.

Since I have no insurance and am here under Medicaid, I have realized that the only thing more screwed up in this country that the gun laws is our health care system.

Medicaid only allows one visit a month from a real doctor. So instead of being able to monitor my progress and adjust treatment according to my actuall recovery, everything happens on a month to month cycle.

After requesting to see a doctor for over three weeks, (the staff doctor has been on vacations so the attending nurse practioner saw me last month) I saw her today. Yes that's right I haven't seen a real doctor since late July.

I have developed several musterious "growths" on my skin on my arms and legs. They look like pink moles and I was concerned that is might be serious. than was diagnosed today as some word I can't pronounce than means infected/irritated hair folicles. All the doctor told me I could do was to have someone else take my linens home and wash them there since it MIGHT be caused by the detegents used here. She can't prescribe anything for this condition (even though she knows exactly how to treat it)becaue Medicaid won't pay for any needed medicine unless ther are prescribed by a Dermatoligst.

I had a brochitis flare up last month and asked for Robitussin CF. Since it isn't on the list of generally stocked medicines here I couldn't get it. Thankfully Lady45 brought me some she purchased out of her own pocket.
That's another thing. I'd like to also thank everyone who has been nice to her since she joined. She's really a great person. I had been trying to get her and her son to sign up and join in for months. I guess you can say I'll break my back to get new members here. :D

Now all I have to do is get her to give back my Colt .45.

I am trying to get them to allow me to bring in my own computer but they are concerned about it being stolen or vandalized. Plus they say I shouldn't sit in that position for too long.

I'll try top get back here more often.

Again I want to thank everyone who has sent cards and really appriciate those who havetelephoned.
Being able to talk to you has really helped me get thriough some rough days.

Bless Y'all

Good to hear from ya Blues....

I know the feeling about trying to get back something that a lady has laid claim to. My wife has been eyeballing my Kimber and I keep telling her to back off.;)

I salute Lady45 for all she has done. A wonderful lady indeed.

Firat of all i want to appologize for my horrible typing in yesterdays post.
I guess the meds had me a little fuzzier than I realized. The staff has agreed to let me have 30 minutes of computer access a couple of times a day as long as no one else is using the machine.

Well today I was informed that they had changed my evaluation date to October 15 so the "red team" which screwed my elbow back together can evaluate me at the same time as the spinal team.

The second piece of "good" news came from the social worker who informed me that Medicaid will either pay for a hospital bed at home or for a wheelchair but NOT for both! :scrutiny:
Since I can't get in and out of a flat bed, I guess I'll have to forgo the wheelchair and not be able to leave the house for any length of time.
But they will gladly pay for a shower chair, an elbow brace, a wrist brace, a bedside toilet chair and a bathroom toilet chair. All of which I have no need for.

It's so refreshing to confirm that politicians have the knack of screwing up EVERYTHING they come in contact with.

Oh and get this... I was informed this evening by the med nurse that I was now approved for Viagra! VIAGRA? She said, "Yeah all you have to do is ask for it and we'll give it to you. But only 1 dose in a 24 hour period."
I said, "What in the hell good will that do me?" And she said, "Well you do have female visitors and you are in a private room."
:what:
I said "I've got a broken back! What do you people want me to do? Break it more better? I need Viagra like a legless man needs a unicycle."

"I need Viagra like a legless man needs a unicycle."
Its good to know the drugs arent hampering your sense of humor, that response is hilarious. What'd her face look like after you said that?

Maybe you could try trading all the extra equipment in towards the purchase of a wheelchair, or Lady45 could try garage sales or flea markets for a used one?

Guess What??????????

Well....you know they say better late than never!!

The day has finally arrived. After moving to a Nursing Home closer to my home, but with no phone priviledges :( ...and equally moronic staff....but with good Cable TV....Bear is COMING HOME TOMORROW!!!!!!!! :D

After an exhaustive search ( after going thru a bitter divorce and custody case my credit was not the best in the world so it was not so easy to find a new house :( ) But....I went thru hoops and begged....and thought about threatening to take my shotgun and take a place by force....but I finally found a one level small house that will be home for the next year or two. It is small and old....but we got it and I am breaking him outta the home tomorrow as soon as the hospital bed is delivered. We will not be exchanging presents this year......but we WILL all be together. And....I will make him a meal that he will not soon forget.....with all the fixings!!!!

Words cannot express what a great help you all have been and how much we appreciate you all. They are hooking up the internet stuff on Wednesday the 22nd....so Bear will be back online then I am sure. So look for him and give him hell.......cuz he has a lot of time to make up for missing!~

And.........hopefully we can close this thread and move on to better things!!! But.....he AIN'T getting his Colt .45 back no matter what he says!!!!! I earned it and he can buy a new one!!!!!!! :neener:

Take care and God Bless you all!!!!!!!!

That's good news Karen ... so indeed, we can perhaps put this thread to bed.

Once you are installed and on line etc ... drop in and kick off a new thread again ... oh and ... remind Bear - there is a PM or two for him. :)

Oh and ... near forgot too - the sig line chr limit is 500 now - so tell him he'll have to trim down his sig!! :p
