Guardian Angel bags

Dutch designers Hein van Dam and Carolien Vlieger are behind the designs of handbags showing the outline of a gun, a crucifix or a knife. Developed in response to media reports of growing fear of crime in their home city of Rotterdam, the "Guardian Angel" bags are being sold to women to protect them from robbers.

Their collection also includes laptop-bags with 3D patterns of milk and fruits because "Robbers love your laptop, but they hate milk and fruits".

That makes about as much sense as giving them signs saying "I carry a minimum of 500 dollars cash and will give it up willingly".

Well now wait a minute guys....
What if said bags could be set up for an electrical charge?
I mean, we all know that bad guys seeing these things are gonna start purse snatching like crazy. If we can get them set up with a good stout charge, just think of the possibilties. ;)

yeah..why not just stick a biohazard emblem on the goofy bags too...with fasionable yellow rubber gloves and all that jazz. :barf:

well i can see the point in this... if the purse snatcher thinks your armed they are less likely to attempt to rob you... but why not just carry a real gun... but for women that dont want to carry a gun i can see some logic..

I would say it's more likely that they would see the outline, know that the "gun" was in the purse, run up behind them and snatch it, hoping to sell it. They won't be very happy later on but it still means that women will lose all their actual valuables.

ZeroX: yes thats why i only see SOME logic in it... but if people are buying it more power to the makers i guess.....

I think the crooks there know that the Dutch can't carry guns. But they may steal the purses out of spite.

It is certainly true that a woman licensed to carry a gun shouldn't have it in her purse and announce that to a would-be thief, though. These designers are idiots or have an odd sense of humor.

Not only a stupid idea, but it doesn't even look real. I've never seen any object's outline print so clearly inside a bag.

A few thoughts.

These are being sold in a country that doesn't allow its serfs to carry a gun ... so 1.Why would a criminal think its real and 2. Why wouldn't a COP think its real?

These bags cost €142 (~$190US) for the small, €172 (~$230US) for the medium and €190 (~$250US) for the large ... aren't most street criminals going to see the bag and go "there's one of those expensive "Gardian Angle" bags ... I'll just smack this chick upside the head and take it ... I'll get lots of money from mrs. moneybags and my girlfriend will have the coolest new bag.

Aside from all those concerns, I think they are kinda cool and would love to see my wife carry one ... especially if there are antis around
:D

Wow. That shade of yellow would match this shirt perfectly!

You guys are being too hard on the designer, its a proven fact that if you just point a gun at someone or let them know you have a gun all crime being committed will stop immediately, you would NEVER actually have to use it, thats why all guns should be outlawed and collected with a big a$$ magnet! :banghead:

Your drunken, angry, bitter monkey pales in comparison to my tripping, frothing, rabid Wookie. Nobody messes with Shroombacca.

The people who buy that purse are smart enough to realize guns in law-abiding hands deter criminals, but not bright enough to realize guns in law-abiding hands deter criminals.
Possibly the best SW line, EVAR.

Mike ;)

Oh, and POSSIBLY we shouldn't be to hard on them, maybe. I have two dutch friends...bit of whom aver that gun ownership is severly restricted and CC is hysterically illegal in the Netherlands.

Oh- naaaaaah. Its still a dumb idea. ;)
