Our local gun dealer has some Romanian surplus AK-47's new in the box for $400.00. I have heard that some of the AK's are very rough shooting. Has anyone purchased one of these recently? Any comments?
$400 isn't too bad if you're buying from your local dealer and you bear in mind that they need to make a buck as well. The romanian SAR-1's are a great deal, and the price of ammo is even better. It's a wonderfully simple design that's very forgiving and lends itself to beginners. Plus it has the evil allure of being an AK variant. Basically, if you want a good cheap rifle that's hard to break and cheap to feed that all of your friends will envy, this is your gun.
for a sar-1, thats a good deal ( if its in good shape, straight sight and gas tube ), if its a wasr10, I'd probably still buy it, even though you can get em for about $300.. after shipping and FFL, might as well support the locals.
The SAR-1 is an excellent example of the original AKM. Mine gets cleaned every time I get a new case of Ammo. So far its been cleaned four times. I must admit that when it gets cleaned it looks like the bottom of a barbeque pit but it has never missed a beat.
