Guns and cats

I'm a cat person, but I need canine companionship. I will be taking care of that when I get home.

There are at least two cats that keep Preacherman for a pet ....

(Go ahead - look up the threads ...)

We have a 2 cat and a 1 dog maximum at our house. Works for us. The cats remind me how quiet and sneaky you have to be to hunt without weapons.

Dogs have Masters.
Cats have Staff. :D

Tallpine, BobCat, you're my kind of people. We currently have 6 (have had as many as 13 at one time) of the most delightful companions. The most recent is a 5 week-old who was found lying in the road in front of our house. She is currently the "queen of the lap" among the human members of the household. The feline members (who outnumber the humans 2:1) have yet to pass judgement. I'm sure all will work out, as there is power in numbers.

Hi, I'm garyk/nm and I am a cat person.

Yep...

My black, half Siamese tomcat, Clyde, helps me surf the net and insists on being petted when I am reloading. The other three cats are Revlis, Jack and Jill.

All our cats are fixed, but none are de-clawed. Country cats need to be armed. ;)

I've got a dog and 8 or 9 cats. I'm not sure about the 9th, he's a stray that comes and goes.

I've had dogs and cats for about 40 years.

Every animal has a different personality. Like people but without the nasty side. :)

Now they are the only family.
They keep me company, busy, entertained and alive.

Sorry to rain on your sunshine folks but I can't stand the little buggers!!!!

Lets see:
Cat hair all over my back deck? Yep
Cat hair all over my patio furniture? Yep
Coughed up hairball ON my patio table? Yep
Cat poop in the garden area? Yep

AND I DON'T EVEN OWN A D*#M CAT!!!! :banghead: :cuss:

For those that take care of there cats correctly(which includes most if not all of our members, given our sense of personal responsibility) you are exempt from the above rant.

My beloved cat died suddenly last month, three days after her ninth birthday. She began having respiratory distress, we took her emergently to the vet and she died within 30 minutes of arrival. The vet thinks she had a pulmonary embolism and there was nothing that could have been done.

Some neighbors across the street had moved six months ago and abandoned a cat. The young cat was living a semi-feral existence in the neighborhood but liked to spend her time on our front porch where I would pet her frequently. Our former cat was very much a one cat per household animal and would not allow any other cats in the house. So after she died, my wife and I discussed it, and we moved the semi-feral cat into our house. She has been with us for about two weeks now and is adjusting very well to being a house cat. So we once again have two dogs and one cat in the MillCreek household. I have had both cats and dogs for almost my entire life.

My nineteen pound cat is sitting (lounging) on my lap as I type. He puts my legs to sleep, but he is a lover.

Ben...a bit of zen to ponder, if you wish to remove the stray cats form your home..get your own cat, grasshopper.

I like cats & dogs. But living in a small house and being lazy, I don't want pets. Goldfish are more my speed. If I want to go somewhere, I can set it free - in the toilet. It's just one flush to freedom. BTW, plants also wilt in my presence. :uhoh:

I have a cat. Had the cat prior to liking guns, so, he stayed well after. Oleg took some pics of cat sleeping on gun....

Not sure what the connection is.....

Cats seem to understand that

what you tolerate, you validate; what you put up with, - YOU DESERVE!

Unlike dogs, which are servile and will return to those who beat them, cats are far more independent and aloof. They WILL look at you with adoring eyes, but only after you've earned their trust and love. Abuse them and they will retaliate, leave - or both.

In short - a "companion animal" that RETURNS respect. ;)

One of my favorite Anchorage gunshops has a couple of "gunshop cats" that protect the place from vermin. My favorite Texan gunsmith always had a shop cat or two. Sort of makes the place seem homey. One of the finest class III dealers I ever dealt with has a whole herd of the little fellers. I have one that enjoys helping when I work on guns. He usually tries to inspect the small parts for me.

For Ben Shepard, regarding hair on the deck and furniture, our Springer Spaniel and the neighbor dogs leave larger piles of hair and poop to deal with so I don't appreciate any canine advantage there. Maybe if you got a color coordinated watch cat that matched your furniture, he would chase those enemy cats away and solve your foreign cat problems.

4 Humans

1 Cat

2 Dogs

3 Chelonians (one turtle and two tortoises)

4 Lizards

7 Snakes (down from a high of about 75)

28 Mice (approximate count of the live ones, lord knows how many are in the freezer - snake food mostly)

1 Shotgun

8 pistols/revolvers (as far as I can remember and will admit to)

9 rifles (also as far as I can remember and will admit to)

15,000 plus rounds of ammunition, of which 100 or so are CB caps just in case those mice get loose and the cat and dogs get tired catching them.

Just figured I'd tie it in a bit more to guns.

Best regards,
Glenn B

Huh? Cats? No cats here ... the two large German Shepherds that run my house hate cats! (I too that most gun people were "dog people.")

We can never seem to get below four cats in the household. As soon as one passes away or otherwise leaves, my wife or daughter finds another to replace it.

The last addition was actually approved by me. A friend of my wife had this cat, and his paw was hurt. She let him limp around for 3 weeks before finally saying something to my wife about it. I offered to pay for a Vet visit, but under the condition that he come live with us-I didn't want him staying with someone who would not properly care for him.
