BUSINESS is BUSINESS

Ok I should have a K22, 3rd series, post war on the way soon. :neener: Manufacture between 1953 and 1956 before the model numbering system was adopted. Contacted Bernie and the dealer in NY today. Also am picking up a S&W escort, model 61-3, .22 lr pocket automatic with orginal box, papers, and storing pouch. Model 61's were made form 1970 to 1973.

I *DO* want the muzzle brake and *DO NOT* want "... 2 holes drilled in stock with 550 cord run thru for a sling attachment ...

Each gun must be evaluated on it's own merits. As with the AR's, the AK's have a "shload" of parts available. That sounded kind of 'ghetto' to me too, but who am I to talk about 'ghetto'?

It's just a stock... you can easily replace that. Although... I think it's CDNN, but someone in SGN is advertising Chinese AKS's for ~$320, which is pretty good. Unlike the AR, it's tough to be an AK snob. The gun has so many iterations, and each iteration does basically the same thing.

Just For Kony

Well, thanks. Unfortunately, I still think those 9mm's from Smith are way overpriced. Even the Rugers are high. However, I might be cooking on a couple fronts soon.

Actually, on the VEPR FAQ they say that they won't take other furniture (I assume that means stock too)

I suppose, though the VEPR utilizes the RPK receiver which was beefed up as it was designed to operate in a unit machine gun capacity. Utilizing the RPK receiver apparantly allows the VEPR to be more accurate than your usual AK. I don't know how much of this is true but consider this...

Reviews I've read in AK forums all say that the VEPR is one of the most accurate AKs these people have shot.

So, based on the reviews etc. I'll hold out till I can save up my $650 or so and get one. The only problem is that the VEPR IIK (the 16" bbl. in both 7.62 and 5.56) seem to be sold out from the manufacturer/importer. That is of course unless I hear something to change my mind.

I agree. This one is way overly priced. I pick up two books at the Manassas gun show on the 9th. One is for maintance and the other is on history and numbering systems used by S&W. The book says a 547 NIB should go for $375.00. Given the book is two years old and for inflation maybe a resonable price is $400.00. The book was worth it though. I used its information to negoiate the price of the K22 I am getting down by $70.00 :p and the model 61 is priced reasonably. :what: Of course we will have to wait and see just what they look like. :scrutiny: I will have a SA XD9 sub compact [3"] and a tatical model [5"] for you to try on the 26th. :D

Only one way to find out...

COMPARO! :D

I'll contribute the cheap B-west assembled Norinco w/ lots of tactical goodies.... SOMEBODY (like... :uhoh: oh, I don't know... maybe SINSABA) needs to step up so we can test this out and produce some hard results!

You know... I don't think Kony has a long gun yet...

:( I'm getting the feeling you guys aren't digging the pink :(

That was fun last night. When I got up this morning second thing I did was clean it up all nice a pretty (first thing was get coffee).

I do have one question that I forgot to ask last night... how long do I let it dry for when I take it out of the dishwasher?

:D

I try not to let them sit more than 3 or 4 weeks after a dishwashing;

I once gave one of my Berettas a mineral spirits bath (this is ok for them). A little known aspect is that in addition to the dirt, grime, carbon & that is completely eliminated by such, is that all of the oil is also eliminated... on every moving part in every tiny corner of the gun  I was probably 30 minutes getting it to feel right again ; the trigger felt horrible until I lightly oiled the spring areas, and a couple other moving parts...

Speaking of old and creaky... Where was Countertop? :neener:

Really? I'll trade you one of my pink ones for it :D

If its made of cotton then its a deal. I'll use to wipe down my plastic pistols. :neener:

... speaking of plastic, I added a Kel-Tec P11 to the mix today. I've shot this before and it was ok but as Smurf would say ... "I couldn't afford NOT to buy it!" :D

I couldn't afford NOT to buy it!"

That's the spirit!
I've heard it said that opportunity only knocks once. I noticed last night that the 629 was printing consistently at the 2 o'clock position, off about 4 inches at 7 yards. I did some sight adjustments (since there were consistent groups, and it happend previously with a different load). I ran out of sight adjustment. Sinsaba grouped at the same position. Upon inspection today, I noticed:
  1. Sight picture shows front sight to be 'crooked'.
  2. View of top strap shows barrel is out of alignment.
  3. View from the bottom shows that the barrel has rotated, significantly preventing full 'lock up'.

I sent word to S&W... SINCE it's going to be there anyway... I'll see what else they can do with it while it's there...

Sorry to hear that it isn't right... glad to hear that it won't be a total waste of time having to send it off!!

BTW... what does anybody know about this ammo?

Don't know if I could afford to split a full case (1000 rounds) but I could afford to split 10 boxes (half a case but you get the discount price). Interested?
