I'm home folks! The procedure was a success and the pain is much less than I anticipated.

Chris

Welcome back! Glad to hear it well. So did you get to take home your gall bladder? Or do they just throw them in the "spare parts" bin? :p

I completely forgot!! I went to Dick's in Fair Lakes on Wed. And I think they're trying to get rid of some ammo stock. They had to shopping carts filled with ammo. Lots of .357, 40 S&W, and .380. Don't know if ya'll are interested, but just thought I'd mention it.

Any 9mm? :scrutiny:

Damn yo! if it's a good buy, purchase first, tell us later, and if we're interested, we'll buy it... Else... :uhoh: well, if you don't have a gun in that caliber, well, you'll just have to get one ;)

Anyway, TOWMBO has dessert taken care of for tomorrows festivities :D
Only for shooters, of course :neener:

Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

mtnbkr glad to hear that you are back even if it is in two [2] pieces. ;)
Get well soon.

Hello everyone, I live in Culpeper VA and I was thinking of attedning the Dulles Expo Center gun show next month. I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if it will even be worth my time or not?
Thanks
Matt

Yikes! Smurf, be gentle on this one! :neener:

Anyway, welcome to the NoVA thread. The above quip is an "inside joke" as Smurfslayer had a run-in with one of the door-persons regarding his ammo. Anyway, I'll let him give you more details. Its posted somewhere in this thread.

Is it worth it? Only if you do not get to the Richmond show. Otherwise, you won't notice much difference. The Dulles Show is a big show with lots of vendors but I still never seem to find anything I really have to have. I mean, I do but its usually more than I am willing to pay (as I always say, I am a double threat ... cheap and poor). ;)

Well, I may not be able to get out there 'morrow. However, I did manage to trade away my Taurus for something smaller ... another Taurus! PT111 Pro to be exact. Seems to be a better fit than my P11. The 24/7 was just too big to justify my poor accuracy. At least now, I can say I'm shooting a "mouse gun"! Seriously though, I am determined to practice my form until I can shoot these things. I figure I'll try to pick up a service pistol with adjustable sights (CZ100, SW99 come to mind) later down the road.

Ummm . . . slateman is a poor college student. Slateman does not buy stuff he's not gonna use. And Slateman can not afford a .357 . . . . unless its a Sig :D

And Luke they did have 9mm. It was $6 for a box of 50 Remmington FMJ. Not bad, though not quite as cheap as Wal Mart. And they had the Remmington Thunderbolts. They're on sale. 500 for $7.98 :what:

Have you considered getting a paper route? Small sacrifice to be able to shoot THE MAGNUM! :neener:

Nice! I really like the Winchester Dynapoints when Wal-Mart has them. Cheaper than Federal (I am even cheap about 22LR ammo!) and they shoot just as well in my Buck Mark.

Thanks KONY I have not been to the Richmond show, in fact I haven't been to a show since the final Bealton show :( yes it was small but it was close and i did find a few decent deals there. as long as the show isnt way over priced I will be happy, I think.

+1 on that paper route suggestion :neener:

Mattdus: I personally think that the Chantilly show isn't worth it. Search back a few hundred posts and you'll see part of why. Dale City is closer to you, and has less crowd and BS non-gun stuff.

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a rare piece, then Chantilly is the only local big show, but you have to put up with anal gun rules and unfriendly staff... YMMV of course, I've interacted very minimally with the gun show staff, but the little interaction has been all negative. If you're looking for a common piece, you stand just as much chance of a bargain at dale city as any other show, and it's cheaper.

For this year's All Hallow's Eve, I am finally able to make smoke without getting arrested! :neener:

Or you can let me know and I'll keep an eye out for you. I usually do the local shops and internet sites pretty often. :D

unfortunetly I have 2 issues there, I tend to like old guns (first handgun was a 1938 s/42 luger) and as far as newer stuff goes I never know what I want untill I see it, pick it up, and kick myself for not bringing more money:banghead: .

kick myself for not bringing more money

Been there.

Done that.

I've only been to Dulles a couple of times, been to Dale City at least half a dozen times. They are very different shows - oh, many of the vendors are the same, but they just have real different feels. Dale City is certainly a more "homey" feel to it. Its a much smaller room with more tightly packed space and a more local feel (and by local I mean the local marines as well as the local rednecks). Plus, when your done you can hit the restaurant at Ikea.

Dulles is huge, with a ton of tables and a lot of space. It takes a good deal of time just to walk through without stopping anywhere. But you get the feeling there area lot of non Virginians there (not as in NY Cit gun running gang bangers) but rather not local sellers and folks from Maryland and NoVA. Its big draw for me is all the old cowboy guns and other antiques they put up front. I've actually gotten a couple of good deals there (purchased a gun both times I attended) but in one case it was just luck, the other I had negotiated most of the deal prior to the show and met the dealer there, at his table.

I know what Gargamel will say, but I think Dulles is worth it, especially if you haven't been before and/or you don't carry.

Glad to hear it went well.
Ya know, you could dry that gall bladder out and sell it for thousands of dollars in some asian countries.
The thought crossed my mind...

I could almost pass myself off as a black bear (the gallbladder that brings the cash). Before the diet, I was rollypolly and I do have black hair. Not quite hairy enough though...

Paper routes have to wake up before 4am around here. :what: Forget that.

Well . . .. ummm . . . . I wasn't gonna mention it, but . . . . well . . . . the guys have been talking and . . . . . ummm . . . . yea, I'll let Mike or Luke explain it

Uuuh, yeah. Any .45ACp?

Didn't see any, but wasn't really looking that hard.

I honestly looks like they were trying to liquidate all of Galayan's old stock.

I assume that carrying a weapon at all is out then? (although I almost expect this at a gun show for some reason:scrutiny: )

I would probably go to Dale city myself but the show coming up isn't really an option for me this time around. I will be going to the Dulles show unless something comes up, which it has a habit of doing :scrutiny: . I don't know if I will buy anything or not but that is only part of the point for me anyway. I have been known to go to gun shops just to drool when I am flat broke. Thanks for the heads up though, I will let you all know my opinion after I go.
