quick C and R question

read a few postings around here, tried to look at the ATF's webpage, plus a couple of other known C and R resources, surplusrifle.com etc... and maybe I just missed it and the answer was right there in front of me but I just havent seen it yet.

Ok, if you go ahead and get a C and R I know you have to keep a bound record of all your acquisitions and when you depart with them. What about previously owned guns that are C and R qualified. I currently have a Mosin Nagant, Im possibly picking up a k98 and or an SKS in the very near future but Im thinking for down the road I might entertain the C and R thing.

If you have have C and R capable guns already, are you supposed to also log those into your book or are they independent of when get the liscense based on the time of acquistion? Also, I wasn't too sure, do you have to log all of your guns, IE your modern day stuff to or just the specific C and R ones that you utilize the licsense for purchasing?

I hope Im wording my question right. Thanks for any relplies, I probably looked right at the answer already but that ATF FAQ is lengthy, it all starts running together.

These guns are not logged into your bound book, only guns acquired after recieving your C&R 03 FFL license and only the firearms that qualify to be C&R. Modern firearms are not entered into the bound book.

C&R 03 FFL is one of the best deals out there, $30.00, it's good for three years, have C&R firearms delivered to your door, no transfer fees, you'll get your money back you spent on the 03FFL by not paying 01FFL transfer fees on your first few C&R firearms you buy.
 
No, previously owned guns do not go in the bound book, only things you've bought since getting your license. If you sell those items later you also need to enter the disposition.

Don't forget this includes C&R stuff you might buy locally. Even if you don't use your license to buy it, if it's C&R it goes in your bound book.
 
While not required to log previously owned C&R guns in your bound book, should you sell a previously owned C&R, you must enter the transaction into your bound book. Unlike importers, manufacturers and dealers, who have an exemption for selling their personally owned firearms without entering the transaction (478.125a Personal Firearms Collection), the collector's instruction states, "The sale or other disposition of a curio or relic shall be recorded by the licensed collector not later than 7 days following the date of such transaction. (478.125(f))". It makes no distinction between prevously owned and licensed.
 
When I got my C&R I contacted RK Enterprises and got their C&R package. It includes everything you need including the BATF application forms, two bound books, a log for listing dealers you have sent your FFL copies to. They also sell just a bound book or IIRC the form can br downloaded off the BATF site. One bound book is for any firearm aquired with your C&R the other is to list your personal firearms including any C&R eligible allready in your possesion.
Their advice is to use both books especially if you had any C&R allready, which I did, that way if you are ever audited it shows you allready had them and you are just not logging new purchases in promptly.

ok, very good info, stuff i can understand and im liking what im reading, so i just need to chew on it and see if it will get me into more trouble or not :D i have little willpower at times and it could be bad if you know what I mean

thx guys, hopefully someone else scanning the web comes across this more clearly defined info, that BATF site is hard to understand they way they word stuff or at least for me it is
