Network (telephony and datacom) architect... (used to be a cool job, nowadays it's just seen as plumbing!) (with all due respect to the plumbers out there :D )

Since the arrival of kid #2 I have given up my centerfire guns to save money and now run blackpowder and rimfire only - they're just as much fun!!

Enjoy and be glad of what you have; there's always some poor soul with less!

I used to work for the ODNR. After a breif break where I worked at a gunstore, I returned to the ODNR and they are my current employer.I love my work, so I count myself lucky.

It's always hard for me to answer this question.

"I'm a Tobacconist" is the easy answer. That's where my heart and half of my pay are.

Of course, the other half comes from network security and systems integration. I need to work on a way to fix that.

I'm a Telecommunications Director. Been doing this line of work for 13 years. Still remember back in the day running around with a punch down tool, a toner, butt set and a crap load of wire. Ahhh the good ol days. Now I sit in front of a computer all day and ask my guys if they really want to piss off someone that can take them out at 1500 yards. Good thing they don't piss me off very often. Actually they know I'm kidding. I think anyway. :scrutiny:

Desk Driver

I have an accounting job that I would be hard pressed to explain to a non-accountant.

I love my ’96 Bronco (final year), but all else being equal: when I do replace it, I'll chose a US made foreign car over than a foreign made Ford or GM because labor makes up a bigger piece of the (wholesale) price of a car than does profit. Especially in the case of Ford & GM.:(

mouse wrangler

I'm a research tech in a neurology lab at Duke Univ. We're working on cures/treatments for Alzheimer's Disease and a whole slew of other neurodegenerative diseases (Huntington's, Parkinson's, MS, etc.). The vast majority of our work is done in transgenic mice (mice that have had human genes inserted into their genome) and I am the mouse wrangler. I also get to do other menial things around the lab. The pay is decent, benefits are good, and I think we have a pretty good chance of making a difference.

I work for several GOP Assemblymen. In my spare time, I push the RKBA effort with them (my own littler personal agenda) and make very slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

I can never remember for sure whether I am an astrophysicist, or if I own a bicycle shop. Now where did I put that pedal wrench.....................................

"Between jobs right now"

I have been an auto tech, small engine tech, small business owner (real small), parts man, service writer, peace officer (Town officer, and county deputy), husband, father, grandfather, installer of vehicular emergency equipment, gardener, shooter. I kind of like the between jobs gig, but Momma thinks differently.....

It's good to see all the college students on this board. It bodes well for the future of our sport. These days anyone without a college diploma is looking at a future as part of a permanent underclass. Those factory jobs have gone, and they aren't coming back.

Sometimes us older guys might seem like we're picking on you youngsters. The thing is, sometimes you remind us how bone-headed we were when we were young and it makes us uncomfortable.

Pilot. Started as an Officer in the USMC, then the Navy, then a Government contractor. Now flying Boeing 767/757s for one of the two airlines in the US still making money.
Love the job and hope I never have to do the 9 to 5 thing.

oh yeah, 2003 Grand Am V6, and a 2003 suzuki volusia, soon to be 2006 or 2007 Harley Davidson Softtail Standard. that is if I get deployed, other wise I have to spend my reenlistment bonus on next years schooling. maybe I'll get the bike and pay it off over time.

Electrical Engineer

Work for a decent sized non-profit organization doing R&D.
We mainly do military contracts upgrading older pieces of hardware to extend service life or design systems to exercise existing hardware. It's fun and a good challenge. (aka, some days I want to beat my head against the wall so hard it goes through the wall)
I've been tempted several times to take a malfuncitoning system to the range and shoot it full of holes. :)
I have no idea what happened. ;)

LEO, ( 1985)
with stints as a PI, mechanic, construction worker, cook, rangebuilder (BCSGC)

Full time husband, father

I own 2 F-150's one '92, the other '55. Several other in the past.

I also ride a '99 Victory, ( made in the US!), and ride every chance I get. Wind therapy.:)

Freelance computer technician, web developer, graphic designer. I will also have my degree in Network Systems Administration after one more quarter. That will net 60+ a year. Right now though aside from that I do most anything. Half my guns were bought from a layaway purchase, the rest were baught with excess tuition money. Part of that tuition money has also gojne for upkeep and repair on the truck so I could maintain attendance at school. Layaway is probably how I am going to buy my next several firearms. Thank God for Sportsmans Warehouse.
