I got a boo boo at the range today shooting my friend's PX4 Storm. A shell casing flew up and managed to land perfectly inside the right lense of my safety glasses. I guess they had slid down just enough for it to fall in over the upper frame. It wedged between my cheek and the bottom of the lense. Burnt like a biachie for a second or two and left a nice welt. This is just another reason for me to prefer revolvers. :)

Sideshields."

+100 and also ear protection (preferably doubled). Most of us only have one set of eyes and ears (hearing). Take care of what you have. I started wearing sideshields after a shooter to my left ejected a case that hit just under my eyeglasses. Luckily it bounced away instead of into my eye.

Good shooting and be safe.

From reading the title, I swore you were going to say you were bitten by the slide coming back. I've done that ONCE (non-shooting thumb got whacked).... that was waaaay back in highschool and lost half of my thumbnail.

Definitely a good hat, plus the sidescreens or wrap around glasses.
Plus some of us don't have a lot, none ?, of hair on the top and there is a need
for protection there as well.

Plus you may wish to keep your shirt collar tight as well. Enough time at the range
and you may experience hot brass most any place it might fit. It's just a matter
of time. :)

I have brass ding me in the forehead every time I fire the Makarov indoors. My other autos aren't nearly as accurate with brass flinging as that one. Luckily, I'm usually wearing a hat or other head covering.

You could get a set of these Wiley X shades if you wanted to look cool and be protected at the same time.

I still haven't worn a hat, but earlier this week I caught a piece of brass on the left side eye protection so I might start now. Eye protection over eye glasses doesn't come in very snug to the forehead.

Another vote for wearing a ball cap and side shields. I get hit more from the guy in the next booth. Empties flying up over the wall partition.

Definitely wear a baseball cap. My cousin did the same thing and still has the small scar under his eye from a piece of hot brass getting stuck between his shooting glasses and his face.

OUCH

I was at the indoor range las winter shooting the MII when a MT bounced off the alley seperator, down the loose front of my T went the very hot .22, it actually raised a blister, I wear good shooting glasses, ball cap, no more loose T's for me.
Have a friend that owned a gun shop, showed me a .25 semi someone had brought in and sold to them cheap. The bozo had decided to try and hold the slide closed wilth his thumb when he fired it.  :D :D :D

That's why I wear this when I'm shooting semi-auto:

Turtle neck or high collar shirt espically for women. Those hot brass do get caught easier if you are a woman ---------I know. Worst Ouchie I had however was with my crossbow ------Get your thumb in front of that wired up thing and it hurts for a long time. YOU WILL ONLY DO IT ONCE.

My father never forgave the Dallas PD for switching to Sig. He was issued a K-frame .38 when he joined the force and loved it. It seems that the run of 226es that DPD got years later was precisely tuned to throw every empty casing right at his collar. He started wrapping a towel around his neck at the range.

It was so bad, in fact, that he came home one night after a shootout in front of a crack house with a burn mark on the back of his neck.

That had to HURT!

My Kimber throws brass so far to the right that I often ask people if it is bothering them.

I had spent casing hop over the indoor partition and land between my neck and my collar.

baseball cap

nra cap, cowboy hat, boonie

Most of us only have one set of eyes and ears (hearing).

I'm poor and I own two regular muffs, one behind the neck and a new electronic pelletor , I love the lectric ones.

I was alone out in the desert last week blasting metallica and shooting my glock and enjoying both!
