I'm shooting a P229 40 with a 180 at 1035.I also shoot a 357 SIG at 1300 fps. My grip slips from the recoil and I have to adjust my grip after 2 or 3 shots. It slows me down to much for Action Pistol or IDPA or IPSC. I know the load is to heavy for what I need it to do. For some reason I like to shoot the same loads I carry. Well almost my carry load is 1420 in the 357 SIG in the P229 and its 1475 in the P226. My carry load in the 40 is well just say to hot. I'm starting to think the only thing to do is back off of the powder a bit. It's just that the 10.5 bluedot is super accurate in the 357 sig and I hate to give it up. I have tried the houge it helps some. Is there anything better. I have not tried the houge on the P226 enough to say if it's a go or not . I will put it to the test tomorrow,

Thanks,Keith

Try applying some grip tape (you can get it a lowes, home depot, etc) feels like sand paper, is usually black and provides a good grip surface. (skateboard tape is basically the same stuff and works just as well)

Ok

It is my weak hand that slips will it still help. Im going to get some tomorrow. I also have a P226 it is a little larger and may help some. I don't think I have large hands but I love the way the Redhawks feel no slip there. I do have long fingers,

Thanks,Keith

if it is your weak hand that is slipping it may be because you do not have a good grip on the gun. Try to make sure the heel of your weak hand contacts the grip of the pistol (it should fit just behind the tips of your fingers of your strong hand and before the heel of your strong hand. wrap the fingers on your weak hand over the fingers of the strong and around the front of the gun. Don't grip the gun so tight your knuckles turn white. you want to absorb the recoil mostly with your elbows and shoulders.

If it's your weak hand then maybe some chalk (like climbers use) or "stick em" that football players use to increase grip.

I would do the chalk route first though. The stick em can be messy.
