Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Model 19s, especially in four-inch, blue trim, are near and dear to me!!!

although appropriate for a gun of its time, for all practical purposes remove the trigger shoe, especiallly if you ever intend on putting that beauty in a holster.

Thanks Pete! I'd like to remove the trigger shoe-but, I don't know what size allen wrench to get(Nor, where to obtain one that is small enough to enable me to remove it?)? And no, I won't ever be putting my Pre-19 into a holster! I'm just going to collect it(And fondle it once in awhile!)just prior to polishing it-before putting it away!

Just collect it?

You aren't doing that fine revolver justice unless you take it out and shoot it. Guns are meant to be shot, and every Model 19 I have ever shot (about 20 or so) has been a shooter.

Go ahead, shoot it. Ya won't be sorry :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

The only way that I might be sorry if I were to shoot my newfound Pre Model 19, is in terms of how much shooting this revolver could reduce the collectible value?

Although I would love to shoot this fine revolver-if only just to feel what it could be like to fire a classic quality built Pre Model 19-it would seem to be more sensible to shoot a later(Less valuable)Model 19-3(And up)? However, I know that your logic is very true, in that all guns were made to shoot! To me though, these more collectible revolvers represent "Beautiful" pieces of mechanical art!

IMO based on the muzzle wear and the trigger shoe this gun was carried by a shooter. Based on it's beautiful condition for it's 50+ years in service this gun was someone's pride & joy and given the utmost of care. For some reason this gun has moved away from the person that originally owned it and took care of it and you have been lucky enough to find it at the right time, price & pocket funds. Out of respect for this gun and it's past owner you should shoot it and enjoy the pride of ownership that comes along with such a classic. If at some time I can no longer shoot my guns I would rather give them away to a shooter that would respect my efforts to maintain them that to see them end up as a safe trophy.
Shoot the gun, take care of it and enjoy.
