What Is Your Most Expensive Gun?

$4000 for a .22 bolt action rifle that sold in the 1940's new for around $100.

I once talked the owner of EDM Arms (Bill Ritchie) into fabricating a left-bolt, left-port Model SS99 in .408 Cheyenne Tactical for me. Final sales price: $8175! And to think that I don't even own it anymore

STI Edge tweaked up by Dave Dawson. $2100+

Plus about $700 worth of tweaks since then.

That I own, a CZ 452 FS in .22LR. $300.

That I'm working on, an FN-49 in 8mm. $800. (I got a bit ripped off, but oh well...it's worth it to me. :D)

I'm in the process of putting together a MP5. Once it's completed, it will probably run me somewhere around $16,000. That includes the registered sear (2/3rds of the total), the HK94 host gun, the HK94 conversion by a gunsmith, an Aimpoint & mount, a replacement stock, a railed foreend and a few other things I'm probably forgetting.

My most expensive title I gun is probably an AR that's worth about $2k.

In todays' money or at time of purchase?

That would be my BHP 9mm, which cost me $460.00 back in 1991. Locally they're going for right around $700.00 now, so it would still be my most expensive gun if i had to purchase it new today. There have been some more recent purchases between 500-600, but now we're talking in terms of the value in 2005/06 dollars. At this point there's nothing tempting me to add to the collection that is more than $700-ish today, and quite a few are a good bit less than that, so my BHP will likely hold the title of most expensive in my small collection for the rest of my time.

Beautiful Norinco 86-S AK bullpup in perfect unused condition, in the box, with a serial number well below 50.

A little less than $2000.

Perhaps the rarest Kalashnikov rifle in the United States, less than 500 came into the country before they were banned. One of the great non-NFA Kalashnikov collectors pieces.

That would also be my newest, a Les Baer Custom Carry 1911. I got it at the dealer's price of $1500., and thus far, it's been worth every penny.

Most expensive single purchase was a Kimber TacPro II in 9mm @ $925. I also have a Walther P-5 Compact that I have about $1200 in, after a ROBAR refinish and buff-up , night sights and a set of Nils grips, and a Kimber Custom Royale with some tuning and FO target sights at about $1k. Love 'em all.

Bushmaster m4clone less than 900.

My 9mm pistol has eaten more than that in ammo though ..

Kimber Ultra Carry II just about ties with the Beretta Urika A391. Everything else is several hundred dollars cheaper.

Arms Tech Urban Support Rifle with Leupold 2.5-8 30mm scope. Sn 00XX.
$2800.

Colt SAA, Gary Reeder action job, ranch brands on the barrel, Ivory grips scrimshawed by Twila. $3500.

Ahhh...yeah.

If our wives saw this site and the prices, Lordy!

For me, the most expensive pistol was a:

Custom Shop Kimber Gold Combat: $1,995.00 plus tax. It was defective and had to be sent back twice.

The most expensive rifle was a:

Custom Sauer 202 Safari .375 H&H valued at about $2,000.00 but that I bought for an astonishing $995.00! Some guy ordered it, put down a few hundred then never came back for it. As it turned out, his down payment combined with their wanting to get rid of it, meant that I walked out paying the difference for simply covering their cost.

For what it is worth, I don't think I would put that amount of cash into a new pistol or rifle again. There seem to be a very nice availabilities for less. Of course, I could be wrong.
