SM you are dead on about things flying around. There is a way though to keep your vehicle on the ground most of the time which helps with the flying objects. Not sure if you've had this training or not but utilising your brakes prior to hitting sharp hills and such hard enough to nose dive the vehicle really smooths out the ride. Particluarly good when aproaching hills with turns. Also take off your cowboy hat prior to driving like a maniac. Don't ask how I know.:)

Awerbuck advanced shotgun /pistol in Oct. at ITTS in LA with Scott Reitz co trainer. I had it once before, but it is the ultimate (especially when Scott puts me thru the '180' and I have 70 rounds of shotgun ammo on my person)!:D

shot about 8 rapid shots into another target, that you could cover with 1 paster.

But at least he doesn't let it go to his head. :neener:

Don, good deal on the Jiu-Jitsu.

I'm glad to see people looking at things other thing just guns. Lots of room for improvement in our lives.

Well, I've taken most of the classes listed in the poll. I find that for me it really helps to just work on the basics, especially with pistol. I think that will probably be the next class for me (though it may be awhile before I take it)... this may be the first year since 2000 I don't work in at least one formal training class.

Next class is a Louis Awerbuck Stage 2 Pistol.
Although I know he despises the term "advanced class" I checked "advanced" anyway, since I wouldn't say it was exactly basic.

First BJJ class was yesterday, and it was awesome. I'm overwhelmed right now, but in a good way.

The school is a lot closer to my gun club than to home, so after class I went over to the range and played. I had it all to myself for some strange reason, so I set up and shot every magazine from the fanny pack, then added movement left or right, then movement to cover while loading (Illinois legal peculiarities) then loading and firing strong-hand only, then loading and firing weak-hand only. Each time I engaged two targets.

Heck of a good time, but not usually possible at that club. What a day!

BTT!

So, what's next? I started jiu-jitsu and am having a grand time tapping on people. My kids start at the beginning of August.

My "next" will be that RMATA (Realistic Martial Arts Training Association) camp on September 23-24th. This will be two days of Sombo, Muay Thai, and BJJ. There are a couple of guys promising to teach Judo stuff as well, which should be fun. I have no takedowns to speak of.

I've been doing TKD for about 6 months, mostly for the exercise. I'm still leaning towards a medical class.

I've got basic pistol and basic CCW courses under my belt over the last couple years, and now I'm looking at MMA classes to improve my non-firearm defensive abilities and add a bit to my exercise levels. Suggestions welcome. :)

I will be hosting Louis Awerbuck for a Level II Tactical Pistol Course, here in Amarillo in September. I am looking forward to it as it will be my first course with Louis and I have heard nothing but good about him.
