hand protection when using Breakfree-CLP?

I never had that breakfree do anything to my hands. However the Breakfree in the aerosol for breaking away gun powder BURNS when you get it in your eye. If you hold it too close to the gun, it will bounce right off it. Learned that lesson a couple times.

I have been using CLP in military and civilian life bare handed for 14 years and I'm :LKSFJ:H:FOSDIJF:LMSN:LKF:ISHF:LK:SKDHF:LJK SDH:FLJHWEF fine...

I've been using it longer than that, about thirty years, both military and civilian, and it IG_&(TW{U@HPE+P#(U S| HUI UIBH LI^EDT also hasn't affected me one bit. Besides it adds taste to your Big Mac you are eating at the gun bench because you can't afford the time away from the shop..... :p

Shocking...

Nitrile gloves. They never wear out.

You do not want to clean guns without gloves. Supposedly the solvents will open up your skin and allow the lead and junk you're cleaning to get into your body. Lead is bad.

Again I am reminded - and grateful for being raised in the era I was...

Wash your hands before you touch your eyes...

Don't forget your rubbers...

Don't forget your slicker...

This all before I headed out the door at age four to go down the way to see the new puppies a neighbor had - in the rain.

I dunno, applied to a lot of life stuff back then, still does today.

I read the MSDS on it and it seems light on information. Does CLP have a petroleum solvent carrier? If it does, the solvent likely penetrates skin, like most petroleum solvents. According to a good friend's oncologist, petroleum solvents are indicated in approx. 25% of bladder cancers (inhaled as fumes and soaking through the skin, or ingested). Neat stuff, huh? I have read that very little is known or studied about 98% of the chemical compounds we are exposed to. Especially long-term effects. I wonder what the flame retardants in our keyboard's plastic are doing to all of us? I use the gloves and some ventilation when using petroleum products by hand. It's easy enough.

we clean our m-16s/M-4s with breakfree. Bare hands. If its for a class like quals or somethng, I will pack a pair of the blue nitrile gloves. That way it doesnt take me a half hour of hand washing to get the damn smell off my hands.

"According to a good friend's oncologist, petroleum solvents are indicated in approx. 25% of bladder cancers "

A meaningless number.
The number you want is what percentage of users of product X develop cancer.

Last time I checked about 95% of lung cancers had a smoking link.
About 20% of smokers get lung cancer.

MDs are notoriously bad at statistics. Much of the heavy analysis of medical research is performed by PhDs, not MDs.

When my eyes feel 'dry' I usually put a drop or two of CLP in them.

Seriously... it's just like oil I guess. It's my primary cleaner and I've never thought to use "protection" from it
