I tried a search on this but didn't find much. My Bulgarian stamped rcvr AK has a polymer stock that doesn't fit me at all. With the butt in my shoulder "pocket" it's nearly impossible to align the sights. To achieve comfortable alignment I have to litterly rest the stock on the top of my shoulder, which is obviously a totally impractical shooting position. Also, the stock is too short and gun sometimes recoils back enough to strike my shooting glasses:( .

I realize there are a lot of replacement stocks out there but since they don't give dimensions it is difficult to know whether they would be of any help. I also know that 1" rubber extension pads are available but I don't see how they could solve the sight alignment problem. Any suggests will be appreciated.

I put a collapsable AR style stock with a rubber butt pad on my Romanian AK. While it was good for length adjustment it still did not give good alignment with the sight. I added a cheek piece onto the stock attached with acraglass. This set up has worked great, as soon as my cheek hits the stock I am looking straight through the sight. You will just have to experiment to see what works for you. The stock I bought was from Tapco and the cheek piece was made by Choate.

Adjustable Stock

TIMC, fine looking piece you've got there. I studied Tapco's website and apparently what you have is the AK T6 adjustable stock. Installation looks straightforward, did you have any trouble? My Bulgarian has a 1.6 mm receiver rather than the more standard 1.05, so some trimming would probably be required but that shouldn't be too much work.

How does the stock adjust? They imply that the length can be adjusted to 6 lengths, can the pad also be adjusted up and down?

Thanks for the help. :)

The adjustment lever is on the bottom side of the stock and can be seen in the picture, it is very easy to adjust (spring loaded lever). LOP can be adjusted from 12" to 16".

The cheek piece I added can not be adjusted and is acraglassed in place. I did the addition myself to get a good cheek weld for sight alignment. I don't think Choate even makes that risor anymore but it was for a standard AR stock. You wouldn't be able to used a risor for an AR collapsable stock, the T-6 stock for an AK is a larger diameter.

The only thing I would be concerned about on the Bulgarian receiver would be the angle of the stock. Some AK's have the stock sloped downward and look really weird with the T-6 stock. I can't remember which make but I saw one once that was like that. Sorry I can't be of more help.
