Nov 7, 2006: Did you vote?

I voted early, wish that I could have voted often.

Just heard of one precinct (in a heavily Republican area) in Albuquerque with 2,000 registered voters, 200 in line at poll opening, and the Democrat County Clerk only provided 150 ballots. Let the fun begin.

first from California?

I voted. Took 45 minutes wait because of all the propositions. Never pass up a chance to vote against Jerry Brown or Diane Feinstein:D

Propositions are so named because you always end up paying to get screwed:neener:

Tried to get in this morning...YIKES! So I guess I'll be standing in the rain tonight. Nice that the boss is going around asking who needs/wants to leave early to vote. (Nice that he's co-ordinating things and nice that he's giving us the nudge vs my last boss who would have only given us grief).

I put out signs and played human billboard for a local candidate(Owen Drake). Finally got a chance to vote an hour or two ago. I didn't feel like cutting my nose off to spite the Republican party, so that's where most of my votes went. Then I jee-jawed with, of all people, Drake's brother and his opponent's husband. They each had their little signs and shirts. Quite the interesting sight.

Interesting ...for an "off-year" there were 20 or so people already in line ( 6:45A ) which is kinda remarkable in my precinct. Took about 20 minutes or so to vote...

I voted by a paper absentee ballot this year. I'm out of my town of residence during all hours of voting.

I voted about an hour ago. No wait, no lines. I filled out the little slip of paper with my name, which was checked against the voter registration lists and verified with my Colorado Drivers license. Next person staffing located my name on another roll, confirmed my address and date of birth, then had me sign the rolls.

I was offered a choice of paper or machine ballot, selected paper ballot. Voting stands were rickety as always, being cheap stamped metal and plastic. After filling out the ballot, returned it to the ballot box and as I inserted ballot into the box, election official called out in a loud voice "Sindawe has voted".

VERY light turnout, at least when I was there. In 2004 I waited an hour to cast my vote the lines were so long.

I voted 8:00am eastern..........My vote was split ticket and everyone I voted for are pro gun.

Voted at about 12:00 noon

We had a lengthy ballot in Michigan. Oh the politics! I am so glad it's over for me. Goodness!

Yup. Bofus.

Her highness, the missus, and I did cast our solemn vote at the electronic altar of elections, in the penultimate week.

[soapbox]
It occurred to me as I filled out the sample ballot, so as to have a crib sheet once I got there (stage fright, you know), that as bland as I felt about the Republican alternatives, the eventual candidate selection is really my own fault. Or maybe "our" own fault.
I'm reasonably happy with the Senate candidate, not so happy with the House-o-Reps guy. The problem is the primary. If you don't like a candidate's performance, the time to spank him is in the primary, not the general.
The sticky bit is this: a preponderance of voters worry about the "electability" of a candidate in the primary -- will our side's big name be able to compete with their side's big name -- and forfeit the opportunity to put up a candidate that actually represents their interests.
And then, unhappy with the performance of their compromise (hey, you voted the name, not the principle), they want to spank their guy in the general election and really forfeit their interests.
It is my belief that if you vote honestly, for the principles rather than the name, chuck this whole "electability" nonsense, handle the issue in the primary, you will eventually get actual representation.

My vote's in the mail. Hopefully Washington can get that embarrassment, Maria Cantwell out of the Senate. We have a slim chance, the polls show Cantwell leading, but Mike McGavick has run a good campaign and I think many conservatives and fence sitters might be angry enough to vote the incumbent out.

+1 Arfin, on your soap box

Just voted, line was short. I voted mostly by party, Republican in national/governor lvl, Libertarian for most of the judges where they were running.

I voted

I voted two weeks ago...didn't want to get hit by a truck and check out without making one last statement for my grand kids!!:)

Mr. and Mrs. Javacodeman have successfully voted in the great state of SC. We were #54 and #55 of I'm guessing about 500 in our precinct, but it was starting to pick up while we were there.

I went in about 8:30 this morning and all booths were occupied. By the time I got my little Sequoia voting card a machine was open.

Touch screen was fairly sensitive to the touch and blanked all other names after I checked my favorites box. Then it did a review and print. I checked the paper over and touched the continue button. I thought I was going to get a receipt type paper indicating my vote, but no, the machine kept it.

About a 10 minute process and I got a little "I Voted" sticky for my shirt. As I was leaving people were still coming in a steady stream.

On my way to my pusher for some extra ammo. There is an empty spot on the shelf.

America, I love it.

Vick
