not abide by the next round of gun laws?

It's coming, it may take more than 2 years,
but it is coming.

I ask because taking THR seems to mean obeying the law,
no matter what.

Will I have my threads yanked if I advocate breaking
the law by not compling with future gun grabs?
I mean, I always thought that Rosa Parks would
have been booted from this site.

The problem is that these sorts of threads invariably turn into a Smith Act violation. This isn't to say that they shouldn't, or that advocating the same is wrong, just that going that direction exposes the board to some liability and responsibility the moderators would rather not deal with.

RE: Smith Act.

So hows is abiding by the Smith Act taking THR?

This is just exactly like saying Rosa Parks should
have sit down and shut up.

This is just exactly like saying the founding fathers
should have just shut up, paid their taxes and taken
it from the crown.

Once again, I know where this is going, and I also
know for a fact what the problem is. There are far
too few men left in this country.

I think it would be correct to not abide by additional restrictive firearm legislation. It is your human right to own a firearm effective enough for self-defense, hunting, and its your constitutional right to be armed against the government if need be, which means a weapon of military purpose.

That said, don't expect to not get in trouble for your disobedience. Just know that sometimes its the right thing to do to get in trouble.

Chas,

Maybe it is just stupid to talk about breaking the law on a public forum?

Besides, most of the blowhards on the internet who talk about breaking the laws, and how macho and tough they are, are usually full of crap.

And that is coming from somebody who is at the top of the To Do List, so reign in the tough talk. There are plenty of people on THR who are going to do what they want. Anybody with half a brain knows better than to spout off about what they are going to do on a public forum, and how they're going to go all Unintended Consequenses on the .gov.

It seems to me there was no mention of any gun control this go round at all.

If the Democrats are smart and want to stay in the majority, things will stay that way.

They have tasted that juice and were gob smacked into the minority the last time.

So, Chas, can I safely assume that you are volunteering to foot the legal bills for Oleg or any other member of the staff who gets in legal hot water because of something you posted on here?

Wow, I wish I could be half as man as you when I grow up.

I've had my phone tapped as a person of interest. I have to deal with the ATF on a daily basis. I sell machine guns and suppresors for a living. I've certified over 300 people for their CCWs this year. But I suppose I'm not man enough to be as committed as you are.

What am I going to do if there are more bans? Well, whatever I do, I'm not man enough to blather about it all over an open internet forum.

Correia,

If I remember correctly, a few years ago we had
endless talks here about the guys in Elko, Nevada
taking things into their own hands over Fed
Gov infringements of land access. Was that
a Smith Act violation? Why is talk like that allowed?

Where have I advocated breaking a law?

Where did I "imply" going Unintended Consequenses on the .gov?

Seems like your jumping the gun slinging accusations my way.

In fact my point was not the we should break a law, my point
is that we will not break laws. The lamentable point
being is that it is bad that these laws won't be broken. Yeah,
it took the realization I was being sarcastic to get that point,
I should have uses sarcasm tags to be more clear.

Let me now be clear. Gun owners will not break any
laws, should they come to be, regarding taking our guns.
We will politely hand them over and thank the govt for taking them
off our hands.

No. You are not *allowed* to.

You have the means at hand by which to do so, but the act of doing so is still illegal.

Stop and think about the way that is contructed for a moment. The FF's thought that a Revolution would be needed every now and again, so they built into the constitution provisions that guaranteed access to the means to do so. They did NOT want to be constantly battling insurgencies and insurrections, so they made the act itself quite illegal, thus making the decision of revolution a true sacrifice for those involved...not something to be decided lightly.

Smart guys, those FF's.

Wow. Once again I realize I need to bug outta here for another
6 months or so.................................................................

I'm not half, no not a tenth of the men you guys are.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Guns? I don't own any guns. I'm too poor. Those damn Republican tax cuts didn't do us poor middle class college professors any good. So I just visit gun related web sites and daydream about owning what other people talk about.....

PS: Thanks to whoever changed my topic line. Everyone
that reads this, that is not my original topic line.

Don't believe everything you read here comrades.

or you ARE man enough NOT to. i appreciate tough talk and backbone(assuming they are fo' real), but part of being a 'man' is having the foresight and common sense to understand the nature of the game, and how to play it.

Sorry, Chas, read it the wrong way. As background, inevitebly every time a discussion comes up about breaking the law, it turns into a chest beating contest where posters try to out tough guy each other. Then I roll my eyes and snort because I know 99% of them are full of crap. Most of them are too fricking cheap to pony up $50 to the ILA and I'm supposed to believe that they are going to have the gonads to risk prison time?

Let me now be clear. Gun owners will not break any
laws, should they come to be, regarding taking our guns.

But I will disagree here. There are plenty of righteous gun owners who broke the law before, and there will be more that will break it this time. I know of very respected people on this board who would rather die than comply with another ban, and I now with a surety that they will break the law, and do what they think is right.

However I never see those people post to these threads, because they are too smart for that.

not abide by the next round of gun laws?

Civil disobedience has a legit place in society. But the problem is that it's going to be difficult to lead a fight against gun control from a prison cell. And I won't even mention the gun related issues of being a convicted felon when you're released. The BATFE is not an agency to be toyed with. They play hardball and they don't play fair.

This place has really gone to hell.

Time to change the banner up too to the LOW road.

I think i'm done with the social situations sub-forum.

Would it be taking the high road...
not abide by the next round of gun laws?

What would NOT be taking the high road, is discussing violating the law (regardless how wrong the law is) on The High Road ;)

What!? How would that be legal? I take it you obviously didn't break any laws if you are still a FFL/SOT.

It was before I had an FFL. After 9/11, we had the Olympics here in Utah, and they were going nuts investigating everybody who had ever spit on the sidewalk.

Speaking of what you will/will not do in this issue on a unsecured public Bulletin Board is not exactly the brightest idea, if you must talk about it, talk to people you trust in private about it.

That said I feel that it is safe to say that the majority of us here and on various other pro-2A boards will do "the right thing" when the time comes.;)
