Sportif 911 Tactical Pants?

do a search, there is another post. I purchased a pair and posted my (small) review of my purchase.

My Experience...

I've been wearing a pair of the Sportif 911 Tactical Pants for the last week, and I've found them to be very similar to the Royal Robbins 5.11 with a few exceptions.

The Royal Robbins 5.11 started out life as a moutaineering pant that was adopted as a... please pardon the expression, tactical pant. The Sportif 911's were designed as tactical pants from the beginning.

Both are made from the same weight cotton canvas fabric, the 5.11 has a doubled layer of fabric in the seat and knee/thigh area. The 911 deletes the hammer strap on the back right side, adds an extra cell phone/accessory pocket on the left front, and a hidden security pocket inside the left front slash pocket. Belt loops on both will take a thick 1.75 inch belt such as The Wilderness CSM. I have found that the 911's are a little more confortable, a little cooler, than the 5.11 but WMMV.

I've both and the only major difference is actually quite minor; the 511s have a pocket inside the legs and behind the knees for a knee pad insert. The 911s do not.

PS speaking of tacticallity, I had a job interview today, so I wore a suit for the first time in about 4 or 5 years. I bought it at the men's warehouse. Suits aren't very tactical. I mean a "tie", ***, who thought up this garbage. I'm going to get a tie that says, NOTTACTICAL in big bold letters running the length of the big wide part that is easy to grab and pull.

Isn't it a French invention? Ties are useless, they serve no purpose but to dip in your soup and wipe your mouth.

Back to the topic at hand. I was gonna tryout the Sportif pants from Botach but the sizes were all weird at Botach, so I bought a pair of the 5.11 pants and shorts from New York Clothiers. I'm digging these pants and shorts, lotsa places to put stuff. Might have to get some colors other than khaki, too much khaki and I'll look like part of Montgomery's 8th Army fighting Rommel. Oh yeah, REI is carrying Royal Robbins stuff too.
