yeah im a noob  . my friend shoots an average of 290...... that dude hits 10s left and right.....

Ya gotta start somewhere and have a goal to reach. It's like golf, you never are perfect, and can always improve.

oops

forgot to tell u guys, its 200/300 with possible 100 on each target. counts on prone, offhand, and kneeling. ugh i hate kneeling

Is this a special "house rules" type match at your local range? I don't know of anyone that actually uses kneeling in highpower. The course of fire is rapid fire sitting (or kneeling) from standing. But no one ever uses kneeling, even though it's an option. Way too unstable.

271 average the last year (2001) I shot bullseye .22 pistol. Thank God for optical sights. :)

I'm too old for competitive pistol now. I'd be lucky to shoot in the 240's.

well. its navy rules. we are required to do prone, offhand, and kneeling. we do stuff like the Secretary of the Navy postals.

last match was a fub cmp match and I messed up my poisitions and ended up with a 487 out of 500. To many mistakes i have to work on that

Last CMP shoot I did, my scores were so low they looked like I didnt finish the match....scored 210. The weather was 100+ and the M1903A3 I was shooting got so hot by the last target from firing and sitting in the sun I literally couldnt hold it. Finished dead last in a match of 60 or so shooters. Next time I will definately bring my shooting coat and glove, no matter the temp! Maybe even my VAR barreled M1 Dane will get exercised the next go around.......I hate being humiliated like that..........:cuss::banghead:

The War.

The terrific thing about shooting sports, to me, is that YOU are fully responsible for YOUR score. No excuses. I love this sport.

shooting scores?

Shooting the NRA National Gallery Course at 50 feet, my average across a season of the winter league is usually right around 255.

This is using a 1960s era High Standard Supermatic Citation .22 auto with iron sights.

Some individual nights I can get up into the low or mid 260s, but my average across the season has historically been between 252 and 257.

I favor IPSC or IDPA competition, with an occasional PPC match thrown in, but I do like to shoot precision with the .22 in the winter. As one of the old guys at the club always says, "this is gentlemen's shooting".

In IPSC I'm firmly in the middle of C class in "production", "Limited" and "Limited 10". In IDPA I'm at the upper end of "Sharpshooter" in the "Stock Service Pistol" class.

At PPC, presuming it's the traditional course including the 50 yard stage, and we're using stock guns, I'm usually high in "marksman".

My best informal score

We don't have bulleye matches in my country and PPC contests are rare....so all we have are informal contests using 25meter pistol and 50m rifle targets shot at 25 meters using a variety of service grade handguns.

My best score so far is 64/180. The target was a 50m rimfire rifle target set at 25 meters. The width from side to side of the 1-ring is 6 1/8"s. The handgun used was a S&W model 67 with no modifications. Ammo was 18 rounds of 158gr +P .38 LRNs from fiocchi. Total time taken including reloading using loose rounds was 72 seconds. All shot offhand standing unsupported.

How did I do? Could I have qualified on a standard police revolver COF in the 1970s?

Kannonfyre, You can create a in informal Bullseye shoot with friends. You don't need turning targets, just one person with a stop watch and a loud voice, or hand held air horn or bell. You can download the correct slow/timed/rapid fire targets that are sized for 50' ranges from the web.

OK, a rifle at roughly 35 feet? You meant 100 meters, right?

That's why they don't issue rifles to Navy personel. I suggest that you get a .22lr and practice at shorter distances. Then move back to the M1 once your scores improve.

All I compete in is a winter indoor Bullseye league. One hand shooting. 560/600 is a good night for me. Else I average a bit below that to qlalify as Expert last year.

I will say... Shooting Bullseye for a couple seasons now has improved every facet of my shooting. Pins to big game rifle. Everything about shooting has improved.

the only time i've been scored was USMC quals. 200 standing sitting and kneeling 300 sitting and kneeling prone rapid fire and 500 all prone...

i qualified with a 232 out of a possible 300. expert  but defintely could of done better.
