Anybody else have a CCU? Do you like it. I have fun with mine. Put on old surplus Air Force AR stock on it.

It's everything for a .45ACP Carbine except for a 1911 frame.( other calibers are available).

Pricey unless you have a 1911 frame or pistol laying around waiting for something to do.

I really like that you can (easily) configure a carbine to use the same controls, ammo and mags as a primary pistol. As for practical experience, sorry - a little lacking there.

Silly me, I thougt you were talking about a Closed Captioning unit I hook up to video signals when we're doing a teleconference at work

I've handled a few, and think they're ok. At the moment, I just really dont have a need for one, and dont have the money for the one I want, since I would want a dedicated frame for it with a higher capacity than a single-stack 1911.

I have two .45 carbines already (1927 thompsons). I dont want one for my G19 because I have a 9mm carbine (AR15).

I wouldn't mind having one in 10mm, but I'd have to build a Para lower for it, or buy a G20 just to take the slide off of it. I'd probably wind up building a Para lower for it, since the .45/10mm glock frames feel frigging huge to me.

I own one. It is OK. Mine is just stock form the factory. I really wish they came with iron sights (an accessory you can buy) and better stocks. I found I enjoy shooting a lever action carbine more than the CCU.

I like mine. It handles a somewhat hotter .45 reload than standard and has a really cool BOING sound from a spring somewhere in the recoil mechanism after each shot. I stuck a red dot sight on it and it seems to be at least as accurate as I am.
Oh, did I mention a really cool BOING sound?

I always thought the "Boing"(Twang?) was from the tuning fork stock. Mine doesn't do it as bad with the CAR stock.

Mine performs best with hotter (+P) loads, too.

Isn't there a legal problem with using that frame as a pistol again? Somthing about how you can make a rifle from a pistol, but not a pistol from a rifle or something?
Not sure if I would want to make my only 1911 frame into a rifle from now on, but if I had an extra frame, then I'd love one of those.

You can go pistol -> rifle -> pistol, but you can't go rifle -> pistol -> rifle.

It's not a permanent conversion. Nothing is altered on the pistol lower. The lower is still a pistol even if you start with a bare frame add all the internal parts and only use it with the CCU.

But once the pistol becomes a rifle, you would be making a pistol from a rifle if you went back?
The receiver is still a pistol receiver. Although it looks like a rifle, it's really a pistol in drag.

I am not convicned. If I had one, I wouldn't make it back into a pistol myself unless I read something that came from the ATF on this.

It is a great toy! Mine works fine, is accurate, and reliable.

It is the easiest way I know of to get a 357 SIG carbine. Mine is a .45, but the .38 Super looks interesting also.

Unfortunately, it is a sealed unit. You can not break it down to clean it. If it were not for this flaw, I would like it even more.

I can not recommend it for serious use, but for range fun, it is great!

BOING - it really does

It can be broken down completley. (pay attention while you do this or you'll be scratching your head like I was the first time). It really needs to be once in a while to get it well lubed.
You will see the spring that makes the cool
sound.
