Hello All!
I would like to propose a little range (or any other place where one can legally shoot) get together for all South Florida THR members! Say in few weeks from now. Saturday or sunday, or both. Lets go out, get to know each other, and of course shoot some guns, mm'kay!

I'm in Fort Lauderdale. But can drive anywhere south of Orlando if needed.

Anybody interested?

What do do propose?

I am in Coconut Creek. Outdoor ranges in south Florida are tightly scheduled. There are fewer indoor ranges.

Markham Park is the public range.

There are 2 ranges at J&R Outfitters at Indiantown, one permanent CAS and another longer range that can be rented.

Martin County Sportsman's near Stuart has several ranges but nothing over 100m.

I would be interested if we can find a range within reasonable distance from me. I am in Jupiter.

Im in Fort Lauderdale area, set the time and date. Looking forward to being shown up.

Martin County Sportsmens Association is in Palm City. We hav a cowboy match there this Saturday.

The range is off 95 at exit 110 (Rt 714). Turn left onto 84th Ave (landfill).

SA revolver, Double barrel Shotgun, lever action in pistol calibre. You also dress like a cowboy or cowgirl. Yeehaawwww.:neener:

If I joined another comp group (read: if I had the money) I would do cowboy action.

Once you start cowboy it's hard to get away from it. I did IPSC, IDPA, pins, clays/trap and when I found CAS it took over!

We shoot 5-6 stages with 2 single action (SA) pistols, a lever rifle (pistol caliber) and a shotgun (doubles, hammer pumps and levers!) Here in south Florida we have three clubs doing matches nearly every weekend day.
- Gold Coast Gunslingers: 1st Sat at Markham Park
- Okeechobee Marshals: 2nd Sat/4th Sun/5th Sat at J&R Ranch in Indiantown
- Martin County Marshals: 3rd Sat/5th Sat at Martin Co. Sprortsmens Range

- Palm Bay is a bit farther north.

Check put the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) at sassnet.com

You have to be a member to shoot at the Martin County Sportsman’s Association. I’m thinking about joining myself but want to find out if I can shoot full auto without too much hassle first.

If you find a range long enough I have a BMG 50 we can use.

What kind of match for the THRs?

What kind of match would you like to have?

There is a great disparity of firearms used by respondents. Let's assess what each potential participant shoots and what we could practically do in a get together.

I'll go first: For 10 years I have been into cowboy action shooting but have done IDPA, IPSC, trap/clays, silouettes, etc.

Suggestion:

Long range: (OK 200 yd) With 3 classes, single shots, bolt/lever action, and semi-auto. 5 or 10 shots into 10" circle/timed. 5 second penalty per miss.

Middle Range: Same rifle choices at 100 yds. Full auto also permitted. Timing/accuracy

Short Range: 20 yards auto pistol, revolver, and pistol caliber carbines (under 19") plus full auto.

There is a 200 yd range at J&R Outfitters in Indiantown for big and heavy stuff. The range could be reserved for a combination shoot.

I could borrow some cowboy targets and we could do a shotgun scenario (timed) with knockdowns.

Practical aspects:
Sit or stand?
Targets-what size?
Timers - I have one
Workers-everyone will need to help. Everybody helps or no go.
I will set up scoring.
How much?

Feedback is welcome and expected.

How about the Cecil Webb Wildlife Management Area in Punta Gorda (Charlotte County) on the west coast. The AR-15 clubs meet there once every couple of months, it's open to the public, has two rifle ranges (50/100 yard and 100/200 yard), a shotgun range and a pistol range.

Palm Beach Shooting Center and Deray Shooting Center are both owned by the same guy. They are high quality ranges but have only 8 rifle lanes and do not allow use of handloads.

i am in the FT lauderdale area as well but i dont think i am nearly good enough for the kind of stuff you all talking about, but hey i might be in.

If you find a range long enough I have a BMG 50 we can use.

There's one over near Bradenton. IIRC is out to 900 yards.

Did an FCSA shoot there a few years back. Nice place at that time, pre hurricanes.

Living in S Florida, I drive up to Indian River to the range up there. Very nice range and people. Outdoors, pistol 25, rifle to 200 yds, bow and air rifle ranges.
8 bucks to shoot. No membership but they do give you a card.

About an hour 20 above WPB.

Manatee range

The range in Manatee ( near Bradenton) is a 700m range last time I was there, they talking about making it 1000m range last year. It is a good range for a 50 at either one, though you may have to do a bit of windage/adjust for terrain!
