300 Pegasus info. request.

Folks,

I am really interested in this caliber and would love some additional information regarding it. A-Square is the only manufacturer that I'm aware of who makes ammo for it. What is this cartridge based on? What barrel chambering would allow for conversion? What twist, contour, and length would be the best for this caliber? Looking at the limited ballistic data I could find, this seems to be a typical cartridge in the A-Square/Lazzeroni mold - exotic, with speed and power to burn.

300 Pegasus is aptly named . . . it's rumored to exist, just like it's namesake. Actually I've learned a lot about this caliber after posting this thread initially. I even picked up a 10-rd. box of A-Square ammunition from Midway - they had it on clearance. Anyway, I don't think I'll be pursuing this as a rifle project, at least for a while, due to a lot of factors. Firstly, the two possible actions I was considering using have fell through. Montana Arms cancelled their Pro Hunter action and Olympic Arms' BBK Magnum action is being re-designed and re-tooled. They won't have anything available until the latter part of this year and that's too late for my school project. 300 Pegasus requires a minimum magazine box length of 3.75" and to my knowledge, there are no other actions made with this dimension that are under $1K.

What about the Lazzeroni 7.82 Warbird? It actually surpasses the 300 Peg. in terms of ballistics. It's rare itself but more readily available than the A-Sq. round.
