In strong bolt actions, I like Vernon Speer's 1956 method of working up until the brass begins to suffer, and then back off 6% powder charge. That is the max load.

All depends on the version of the book, the platform used to test loads and what type of bullets used. Check the beginning of the 25-06 section and see which 50gr bullet was used and type of gun used.

FWIW, start low and work your way up. That or use Vern's method.

....agreed, it's ALWAYS better to approach the limits than to exceed them!!!

If you have conflicting data, start with the more conservative load and work up from there if you need more power. Likewise you should never exceed the maximum published load in your most aggressive manual!!
