I know Jim Zumbo has been pilloried without mercy for over a week now, but in spite of two apologies, I still haven't seen what I've been waiting for. Maybe Mr Zumbo comes to this board or someone who knows him can pass this on. But this is what I want.

I want Jim Zumbo to acknowledge that the Second Amendment isn't about hunting, but about the right to keep and bear arms, regardless of cosmetic features and magazine capacity.

I want Jim Zumbo to acknowledge that rifles aren't just for hunting, but also for self defense, for target shooting and for any other legal activity that gun owners engage in.

I want Jim Zumbo to acknowledge that AR and AK type weapons are not terrorist weapons and they do serve a legitimate purpose.

I want Jim Zumbo to acknowledge that I, as a veteran who has served his country in a time of war in a combat zone, am not a terrorist just because I choose to own an AR-15 for non-hunting purposes.

I want Jim Zumbo to acknowledge the same for pistols, shotguns and any other firearms that are legal to own.

It is time to put all this behind us. But Mr Zumbo still needs to make this right. And once we get past this all gun owners, regardless of their needs or reasons for owning guns, need to band together to defeat the upcoming bills that the Democrats will now try to pass. Those who own rifles for hunting purposes only need to be educated to the fact that their rifles are not safe from the Democrats. If we don't stand together, then we will all lose our rights in the end. If the Democrats succeed in banning pistols and AR/AK style weapons, it's only a matter of time before they come after hunting rifles and shotguns. If Mr Zumbo can bring himself to acknowledge the rights of all gun owners then maybe he can help us educate those who think their hunting rifles will be safe from the gun grabbers. But before Mr Zumbo can redeem himself, he needs to complete his apology.

Zumbo apologized and already vowed to go hunting with a so called "assault weapon".

I think between that and the fact that his career is over and he probably just wants to move on at this point - it's the best you're going to get.

Sorry

I think you are correct that in order to redeem himself that Mr. Zumbo needs to do all you posted. But like “The Economist” posted I think all we will get is what he has already offered as an apology.

But unlike “The Economist” I think that an apology such as you and I would like to see won’t happen because, I think Mr. Zumbo still believes that the AR-15 is stll a “Terrorist” rifle. I could be wrong.

Respectfully,

jkelly

not unlike me at all - Zumbo said what he meant to say.

apologies after the fact are simply damage control.
