The Fudd

I prefer to hunt with a bolt gun... (most of my high-powered rifles ARE bolt action!) I own, but don't hunt with, an AR variant, a couple AK's an SKS, and a Barrett .50 Semi-Auto...

in .22 rimfires, I have more semi-autos than any other... but hunt most often with a good bolt gun...

I'm ACTIVE in RKBA, and whatnot...

call me a "fudd" if you like, it DOESN'T bother me... bolt guns lock up tighter, and are inherently more accurate...

Then you are not a Fudd.

Looks like the anti crowd has won one here......folks with guns fighting with themsleves........call me a fudd or call me a gun nutt which ever but throwing the glove down to some one by throwing a name at them serves nothing.

Think before you speak and think harder before you type. You cant give them folks rounds to fire at us by this in fighting.

ARKIESTEEL,

I agree about the term. It serves no propose. But the in fighting is going to happen and that is a good thing. We have a small group who wants to sell out the vast majority of other gun owners to protect their own “sporting arms”. They’ll sell all defense arms down the river in an effort to keep themselves going a little longer. If we as gun owners don’t stop them, do you really think the antis will point out their stupidity?

It’s up to us to counter them. I agree it needs to be civil. But calling for the majority of gun owners to roll over and play dead to keep a minority of owners from getting their feelings hurt is not advisable when that minority seeks to openly to destroy the whole group.

I’ll be civil, but I’m not going to stop fighting. Just like in a shooting war, the enemy wins if we stop defending ourselves against our own traitors.

I wonder how the defenders of the "Fudd" epithet would respond to being called, oh, let's say "terrorists".

Hmmm...being called a humorous cartoon character vs. a murderer and an enemy our armed forces are actively fighting?

Sort of like comparing apples and hand grenades.

I am new to the high road, but have learned a lot since coming here. In fact, this is my first post.

I am 32 year old who just bought my first gun, started hunting, and I am just learning / getting informed on AR's and AK's.

What do the terms "EBR" and "RKBA" stand for? I apologize for being uninformed by I am trying to get informed.

Thanks

My Grandfather saw no need for him or anyone else to have an ugly black rifle, but he loved his M1 carbine.

To this I would reply: Read the list of banned guns included in HR1022 (the new AWB bill). The M1 Carbine is in there right along with our ARs and AKs... it's a magazine fed semiautomatic military style rifle, and therefore an "assault weapon" (or "terrorist weapon" depending on who you listen to).

Exactly!

The best definition of a Fudd is a Quisling, as long as his interest gun is ok Screw the rest of them. Typically no matter how it sounds like profiling he is a ;

1. Hunter (even though the 2nd does not mention ducks or whatever)

2. Trap, skeet, sporting clays shooter (they will never outlaw my O/U I'm OK)

3. Benchrest shooter (mine is just a single shot rifle so I'm OK)

4. Blackpowder Shooter (those suppository loaded guns were just a fad anyway)

He is as big an enemy to gun rights as a full blown Brady bunch anti.:cuss:

Note I enjoy anything that goes BANG and own and participate from Flintlocks to NFA.

Stick together or we will all hang separately in the end.

Not all hunters are Fudds, but all Fudds are hunters. You obviously are not a Fudd since your interest in firearms extends beyond hunting. A Fudd wouldn't get too concerned about my AR-15 being confiscated, as long as his hunting rifle is safe.

EBR originally stood for "Enhanced Battle Rifle", but it didn't take long for someone to subvert it to...Evil Black Rifle.

"He called me a worse name than I called him!"

As I recall, that didn't even work in the 2nd grade schoolyard.

It might be of interest that the gun ban gang, once semi-auto firearms are outlawed and confiscated, is planning an attack on "military weapons." The definition will be ANY action or firing system that was EVER used by ANY military force at ANY time. So, lovers of the Mauser, Remington 700, Winchester 70, pump shotguns, handguns, trapdoor Springfields and Martinis, lever action rifles, cap and flint muzzle loaders, even matchlocks, get ready; they are coming for your guns, too.

Political Correctness is for liberals. I don't hunt, I don't like those that feel that the only guns I should own are for "sporting purposes". Fudd is a fine term. If you're not a Fudd, you won't be called one. The anti-Fudd movement is a house-cleaning that needed to be done a long time ago.

You are 100% correct.

If the brady bunch can divide the gun owners into seperate groups they can and will win.

i am new to this forum, joined because i wanted to add to the 7.62x39 vs. 5.56 thread but anyway here goes my opinion. everyone is taught that calling names and labeling things is bad, imean look at the"detainees" in guantanamo bay, if it weren't for all the political correctness that keeps us from offending one single person those people would be called what they are prisoners of war. now i am not saying we should break out racial/ethnic or any other slurr. trying not to offend someone while having an in depth conversation is pointless, some one is ALWAYS going to be offended, so just say what you mean and mean what you say, it makes conversations easier to understand and reply to. my .02 is that political correctness is destroying our country by infringing the right of free speech. sorry for the rant but having to be p.c. all the time is grating on my nerves.

Not trying to be PC, but that term is not a good description. The 'sporting' people are among all gun owners, as there are plenty of non-hunters that support various "reasonable restrictions."

Unfortunately shooting is all too full of people who will let the rest of gun ownership go hang as long as it doesn't impinge on their personal comfort zone, whether it's new laws, access to public lands, ranges closing due to urban sprawl, rises in cost of raw materials, etc.

And I could tell them where they could stick their "reasonable restrictions". :D

Fudd is a perfectly usable description.

I just wish I had an easy-to-use moniker for the Perazzi/Krieghoff owners I've met who also don't mind throwing other gunowners under the bus to save their precious sport. :scrutiny:

I demand equal opportunity mud-slinging.

I don't hunt, only fish when it involves beer and a lawn chair, get all Project Runway at the thought of wearing camo and don't like being around dead animals (stuffed or unstuffed). So where's the (semi-)derisive term for us anti-Fudds, eh?

As opposed to the wily mall ninja, the slightly portly (fat) guy who spends all his extra money on evil black stuff and accoutrement in pursuit of all things tacticool. He spends hours on forums debating why his GLOCK are better than others (even though he hasn't shot all of them, just the one he has is better). He takes pictures of his guns to post on all the cool forums, but hasn't taken all of them out to shoot.

How about this for a "semi-derisive term.......

:neener: :neener: PUDS :neener: :neener:

then antithesis of Fuds are Puds!

couldn't resist :D
