This morning on Fox and Friends, both Steve and Brian acted like scared little girls talking about Webb and his aide bringing a gun to the Capitol building. Brian said that it was crazy that they could bring a gun. That during debates that get heated one of them might take it out and start shooting.

Doesn't that argument sound familiar?

Are these two anti's or just clueless New Yorkers?

I had it on as background noise and heard the hysterics too.I don't get too worked up about it as I'm pretty sure they just keep Kilmeade on to get a tax break for employing a "special person".He is afterall the moron that asked " Do we eat bulls?I know we eat cows" and last week made the comment " the happiest polar bears I have ever seen have been in zoos".I'm sure there is a long, long laundry list of amazingly stupid comments made by him.

That said: Webb should no more be allowed to carry in DC than any of us.

I've always wondered how far a congress-critter could go with the provisions that say they can't be stopped by cops while congress is in session, allowed to carry on fed property, etc. While I understand that they are important to our country, I dont think they should have liberties that the average citizen can't get. Why do they need to carry on federal property. Almost every place they go is protected by FBI or Secret Service agents. The fact he gave the gun (perhaps even unknowingly? ) to his aide, who was subsequently caught, would fall under improper storage or access or providing a firearm to someone without a permit, and likely be a misdemenor, which should be enforced.

Watching it now. Their response is no different than I would expect from a bunch of Guiliani-guppies....

What I don't get is what charges are being filed against this aide? The DC gun ban is overturned (and no court order freezing the results is active), and the aide has as much clearance as the senator. If this is on the DC ban, this might be a set-up test case for the NRA. :scrutiny:

I'm definitely against the double standard. Politicians should be held just as accountable and just as helpless as their constituents.... :cuss:

Brian Kilmead is a bed wetting, Long Island liberal where gun laws are concerned. About a year ago, he was reporting on some guy in PA that had shot someone, and when the sheriff went to the guy's house, it turned out he owned more than a dozen firearms.

Brian gets the sheriff on the phone (on the air) and as the discussion begins, Brian said to the sheriff something about what a threat the guy must have been, sine he owned so many weapons. The sheriff immediately smacked him down by saying the number of firearms he owned had absoltely nothing to do with the guy shooting someone. :neener:

I immediately sent him an email to tell him how ridiculous he sounded, as he tried to spin the story into an anti gun report. What a dope.

I watched the segmet this AM. In spite of the fact that BK has no practical 2A knowledge, overall I didn't think the segment was anti. The lawyer from Vegas with the CCW kept the 2A portion of the discussion on track and generally pointed in the right direction.

Faux news is no different than cnn or entertainment tonight, except that they get their talking points from the right. Ignorant city folk that think they are funny and sophisticated because they are city folk. :barf: Occasionally the networks do a good story but you have to wade through hours and hours of garbage.

Why do they need to carry on federal property. Almost every place they go is protected by FBI or Secret Service agents.

Only thing in close to "need" in the second amendment is the well regulated militia necessary to a free state bit.

Let's not get into the need issue. It took me long enough to get my wife past the "how many guns do you NEED?" stage of our marriage. I'd prefer to work to get better access to guns and CCW for all rather than tearing down others who have it. Even if they are Congresscritters, Washington elites, and I disagree with their party affiliation.

#shooter,

The worst of that lot are RURAL folk who move out to the cities, and through a percieved need to PROVE they aren't one of those ignorant bubbas or rednecks, become far worse than most "city folk."

I used to be one before I was mature enough to not really care.

Fox's Shepherd Smith is a perfect example:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,1260,00.html

Beginning his career as a reporter for WJHG (NBC) in Panama City, he went on to report for WBBH (NBC) in Fort Myers and WCPX (CBS) in Orlando. Smith’s last stop in Florida was at WSVN (FOX) in Miami before he headed to Los Angeles to join FOX News Edge. He attended the University of Mississippi and is a native of Holly Springs, Mississippi.

I live in N.florida on 11 acres and shoot on my land weekly. when city people (especially from the NE) come to visit they react quite strangely to my guns. even the .22's:eek: even the men:confused: I already told the story about the ladyfriend who refused to sleep in my son's bedroom because of his beloved Cricket rifle on the wall

What about the news?

There were some real issues in the story:

Status of concealed carry laws in DC
Judgment of Congressman in handing gun over to aid.
Did the congressman and his aid violate the law?
Was it a foolish law in the first place?
Why does a congressman feel he needs a gun when there is so much "protection' provided by the federal government?

The 2 men acted like pansies. The female commentator was more manly than they were. I thought Steve Doocy was going to wet himself talking about carrying a "LOADED PISTOL" in his pocket. I like Steve and he has good conservative values. I was shocked to see his school-girl reaction to carrying a loaded pistol.

Is there any real source of news left these days?

They are a team of morons who try to spout what they think is a conservative or FOX line. Sometimes they are so stupid, their more intelligent conservative colleagues have to put them down.

I see they have a new airhead blonde. What happened to the other original airhead blonde.

I don't mind conservative news but stupid doesn't play.

Brian said that it was crazy that they could bring a gun. That during debates that get heated one of them might take it out and start shooting.

We should be so lucky...

The DC gun ban is overturned
Only sorta kinda. The Appeals Court ordered the District Court that originally heard the case to change its ruling. The District Court, so far as I know, has not yet complied and ordered D.C. to do anything. The D.C. gun ban is still in effect.

At the point of entering federal property, the DC gun ban become irrelevant. Federal regs prohibit citizens (but apparently not Senator Webb?) from carrying weapons. I've never before heard of the permission granted elected officials to carry. I wonder if it's true?

I bet that more than one of us has walked into a post office and, while standing in line, realized that we'd forgotten to take the 642 out of our pocket and lock it up in the car. These things do happen. It's unfortunate, but at least it confirms Webb's personal belief in the Second Amendment. Regarding the morning show on Fox News, I've always been astounded that anyone who wasn't developmentally disabled could possibly watch that half-witted clap trap. You can always tell a person who relies on Fox News as their only source of information because they have the political sophistication of an 8-year-old child.

I know a couple of conservatives who are not too progun. The 2A with them doesn't matter. Edited: And they DON't like Guiliani!!!!

There is such a thing as a special deputy US Marshal, but don't know how valid that legally is to give it to a public official without a law enforcement reason.

No one should be allowed to carry in DC with a wink wink nudge nudge bad johnny don't you do that again type of reaction from those running the place.

Now anyone who wants to carry in an act of civil disobedience to an unconstitutional law, more power to them and I fully support them.

Fox New is not real journalism.

The Fox morning show is probably the most annoying morning TV show on the face of this planet. I have also noticed many Fox shows are nothing more than pure entertainment from people with little grasp of journalism.

Why do they need to carry on federal property?
His quote about that kind of bugged me:
Webb said:
Since 9/11 for people who are in government I think in general there has been an agreement that it's a more dangerous time.
This is the same mentality where Diane Feinstein (or Pelosi, can't remember which) feels like she can carry a gun in California because she's been threatened, but average citizens aren't allowed to. We should all be allowed to carry, of course. (Not sure where I stand on carrying everywhere, but the attitude is what I'm talking about here.) He seems like an okay pro-gun guy that just needs a few lessons on how he ought to be thinking about certain things. Some people don't realize the ramifications of what they're saying, whereas here on the forums we pick apart every little statement to make sure everything is completely pro-gun.

Regarding Fox and Friends' reaction and the actual carrying inside the Capitol, I feel the same way about them as I do about this guy commenting on a judge packing in a courtroom:
Duval County Public Defender Bill White questioned the safety of allowing judges to carry guns. He said he plans to talk to the chief judge about disarming the judges.
How about you just get lost instead? On the other hand, you do have total idiots like Chicago aldermen pulling guns out at a city council meeting, so maybe Fox and Friends has a point.

CHUCKULATOR - "Are these two anti's or just clueless New Yorkers?"

You guessed it, Chuck.
