Loudest gun you've been around or fired?

My Kel-Tec PLR-16 .223 pistol with factory muzzle brake has been booted out of indoor ranges. Shooters in nearby lanes have nearly jumped out of their skin according to friends watching. I am usually mobbed with questions about the piece, then invariably ejected from the premises. I now shoot it outdoors only.

A TC Contender pistol in 444 Marlin with a 14 "ported barrel. Jeesh! What a racket it made! But, I took 2 deer with it.:)

Not sure , but my old 10 gauge short barreled side by side would create quite a racket when touching off both barrels. The kick was none to pleasant considering it had a steel buttplate . It was something I would bring out and shoot when the other guys brought their "big" guns. Funny , no one wanted to shoot it after me. :D

My daughter and I were at one of those indoor gunshop/ranges with the big glass window so everyone in the store can watch the shooters. We were enjoying our .45s when a guy in the next lane opens up with a Desert Eagle in .50 AE. Although we had muffs on, we just weren't ready for the cocussive blast right next to us and the both of us must have jumped about 2 feet off the floor. We turned around and everybody in the store was laughing their butts off.

We've both shot an AR50 fifle in BMG but you are ready for that blast so it didn't seem as bad.

The guy in the lane next to me at a 25 yard indoor range was sighting in an 8mm Mauser. If I wasn't wearing double protection my ears would still be ringing four months later. Cinder block partitions really amplify the blast!

Well...

indoor range, HK Full auto 308 (dont remember model). It may not have been the loudest, but I could feel the concussion in my chest. It felt like a drum solo was being played on my rib cage. An awesome experience for sure.

This past Monday: Indoor range, Dad's Weatherby 300mag w/muzzle brake. I quit hanging around after one shot and moved to the pistol side where, I might add, they were having ladies night. It was much better scenery and easier on the ears.

Prior to that, it was a 500s&w in same range.

5" 54

Shooting Mount 51 and 52 at the same time doing NGFS. For demonstration of why you don't want to be in the area we put a 5 gallon plastic bucket filled with water out on the forecastle about 30 feet from the mount and fired one round. The bucket shattered. :what: Loudest personally (hands on) fired was a 25 mm chain gun.:D USS John Young DD-973

At an indoor range, my Mosin-Nagant M44 that's been cut down to a touch over 16".

7.62x54R in a two-lane confined space ain't no joke.

Deasert Eagle 50AE. It's like standing next to the speakers at a rock concert. You feel your chest rattle everytime you fire. The best desription of a S&W 500 mag was this. "Its like a hand granade going off in front of your face."

A Special Rifle

It was a rifle, strictly speaking -- a 16" Naval Rifle on the USS New Jersey. :what: I actually got to fire it using one of the brass pistol grip firing triggers below decks. Photographing a full 3-gun slavo from the deck gave me a consussion. Man, what I didn't do to keep you clowns safe from communism.:neener:

Desert Eagle .50 indoor here too. I was shooting next to the guy who had it. He shot it like crap because he was anticipating the recoil. Can't really blame him I guess

:what: Ouch.

I'll have to agree with other posters here. I have never been to an indoor range which allows rifles other than .22LR. But one range in particular near me rents out a .500 S&W Magnum revolver for kicks. You have to buy ammo by the round (not cheap). It is NOT fun to be next to it.

A .357 Ruger snubbie loaded with a THV bullet - my friend touched one off as I stuck a finger under my earmuffs to wipe away sweat. My left ear rang for a week.
