Hey everyone! I'm looking for a little help here. What's the lowest capacity M-16/AR-15 type magazine available, are they any good and where can I buy them? I know this is kind of a weird question but I would appreciate any and all of the help I can get. Thanks a lot.

Doesn't get much lower than that...

I've personally never seen anything smaller than a 10 rounder, but I don't doubt they're out there if you're willing to look, as per above.

Thancks for your help guys. Any other brands and experiences would be great. Keep 'em coming.

you can put a wooden block in magazine and make it accept as few rounds as you want. Takes a little fitting but works. I used to use pencils in shotguns tubes.

Thanx everyone. I guess I really should have asked what it is that I really want to know. I'm looking for a magazine that will be flush with the mag well of an M-4. And I mean really flush. As in that it won't stick out at all from the bottom. The capacity doesn't really matter.

Real USGI M16 mags only come in 20 and 30 rounds.

The rest are civilian mags, which may or may not be reliable depending on the manufacturer. (Colt made USGI mags so they probably have a high reliability factor. Promags might not be. Who knows where Bushmaster, DPMS or Olympic mags are made.)

single-round mags are pretty dang reliable ;)

why would you want a flush mag? seems like it'd be very hard to remove. you'd have to use gravity, which means you'd better not get it dirty.

well.. depending on what you're using it for, you might be able to use one of those solid-bottomed California AR receivers... you'd have to load it from the top, but if a flush receiver is really what you're looking for, it's a clean way to go I guess.

Kaylee- Thats just wrong! Apoliges to the folks who are forced to.
The few reduced cap mags (usually desired to comply with hunting regs) I have seen were blocked 20s.
I would suppose you could take a 20 rd mag,fit a wood, metal,or plastic block that would slide up inside the mag after removeing the baseplate and fix it in place with screws, then cut off excess parts of the body. the spring would have to be chopped back

I've seen 5 rounders & I think w/ diff't followers, they could be 3 round mags.. I guess you could top load a round at a time & have that single shot AR :scrutiny:
Sorry, maybe it's the Californian in me but to have mags that hold less than the 20 or 30 rounds as originally intended is just a crime against nature :(

I use 5 round mags for hunting, and I don't have to. But the 5 round is much shorter and handier when stalking or sitting in a blind.

Any magazine of any capacity becomes a single shot when a S.L.E.D. is installed.
Single Loading Enhancement Device I think is what SLED actaually stands for and they allow heavy bullet 77-80 grain loads, which are too long in overall length to feed from a magazine feeding device, to be hand fed into the AR15 action without the fear of slamfire.

I am sure someone does offer a single shot magazine but it would be nothing more than a straight side twenty shot or five shot magazine with a SLED installed.

Five shot magazines are the smallest capacity factory offerings.

curious...why do you want it flush with the reciever?

The 10-20 round mags are the same size i think (correct me if I'm wrong) and they don't stick out as much as the grip. If you're shooting from prone, I use a 20 rounder and load about 5 rounds (cost of ammo is high.)

John Masen Company produces five and nine shot magazines that fit near flush to the magazine well.
They also produce these magazines for, and stamp them as, Colt.

You can buy them direct or through Brownells.HTH

Be advised that many 5 round magazines are really 9 round magazine bodies with a second follower stacked on top.
