How is Arizona?

All the normal stuff is still illegal....armed robbery, shooting in public, waving a handgun around in a crowded mall....that kind of stuff. You can open carry, apply for a shall-issue CCW and get it unless you smack the broad or something stupid before you get here, bring any class-III items you may have, and outside of the city you can more or less shoot anywhere that doesn't say you can't....except on the indian reservations of course.

Wow...I sure would like to live and work there.

How about carry in schools, bars, and state/local govt buildings? Sporting events? Parks? Churches?

Arizona is not as pro-gun as you think. Just about every restaurant (those that serve alcohol) has a "NO GUNS" sign on it. Carry is pretty much restricted in ways that it is almost useless. If you cannot go out (legally), then what's the point?

They don't even have to have a "no gun" sign because you cannot carry anywhere that serves alcohol for consumption.

But seriously, AZ is far from being a bad state for gun laws. How can you call it unfriendly? Every single state has bad laws. Its all about how many bad laws. AZ has no where near as many about 35-40 other states do.

Not a problem here. It's a state that allows open carry and has shall issue CCW. I bit better than many states with wacked laws.

crebralfix, what is progun to you? AZ is darn good for gun laws, and gets better every year, incrementally. We just eliminated the fingerprint requirement to renew your shall issue 5 year,(started as 4),CCW permit, changed carrying concealed without your issued permit to a petty offense, and signed an anti-Katrina confiscation law. THAT'S with a Democrat governor! We allow firearms education in PUBLIC schools, with range time required to pass. Our CCW is NOT weapon specific, number of, or even what type, so carry a sword, throwing axe, pistol, and legal NFA MG-42 under that London Fog. All at the same time.
BTW, laws still in the pipeline including change ALL CCW without a permit to a petty offense, ($50 max fine), add in a state guard, and back-date our Castle Doctrine, put in last year, to affect all cases pending when it was signed. That particular one has been a rough ride, vetoed once, added in as a strike everything, failed in the House, voice vote for reconsider...tomorrow. We'll see.
Compared to maybe, Alaska or Vermont, with permitless carry, we are Hades on Earth. Compared to New Jersey, California, Massachusetts, Ohio, Illinois, heck, almost the rest of the country, we are not bad. And for you beach bunnies, we have plenty of beach! No water, but LOTS of beach!
Did I mention we have a law stating no civil liabilty for justified conduct? You shoot someone, it's ruled a justified shooting, THEY CAN'T SUE YOU! Now THAT'S a plus.

Az laws are plenty friendly. The only restriction I find annoying is the prohibition about carrying in eateries that serve ETOH. I find it annoying that when I visit and stop of at the local TexMex while vacationing in Tucson I have to disarm to stay legal, even if I am not going to be drinking any alcohol with my tamales. Other than that it's a better than average venue for 2A activity. No state is perfect, AZ laws are better than many.

Arizona is much better than the state that I grew up in (Ohio). We have plenty of open area's to shoot, plenty of gunshows, gunfriendly laws and a pretty relaxed crowd when it comes to open carry. You won't be disappointed in that area.

If your an outdoorsman then Arizona isn't Utah. Hunting is on a draw basis for big game and the landscape is brutal. Birds are plentiful but water is not. The scenery is cool but the weather is not.

That is the first time I have ever heard the landscape described as "brutal".
I definitely recommend a very good & comfortable pair of boots with a thick exterior. Coming down some gulch you may need a step or two more than you plan and its nice to accidentally stomp/kick those baby prickly pears without getting stuck.

While I couldn't take the hellish heat, AZ is arguably one of the best 5 states for firearms enthusiasts.

Man, I did at least half my shooting on the rez, when I was in Yuma. The Natives dump a couple cars and a whole lot of appliances in a cut with a good backdrop, and that becomes the local shooting spot. They never seemed to mind when I showed up.

Arizona is a free state (still), and there is Open Carry.

The first time I went quail hunting I spent more time with my drawers below my knees pulling friggin prickly pear cactus thorns out of my legs......Brutal!
