VT & NASA Fallout: CDNN not selling handguns

Afraid we have not seen the last of this.

I had to remove guns from my web store over the week end. I had many bad shopping carts full of guns and ammo. Cho placed several orders as well as Geo Bush,OJ Simpson, and Oama. The Vice President even ordered a Mossburg shotgun and some 308 ammo to shoot in it .

Frankly, that sucks. Seems like yet another step on a slow but static programme towards total gun control. Sure, nothing was banned by the government, but any time commerce is impeded it means less gun owners making purchases (the first purchase, in some cases), and it means that when the next step is taken it'll be a shuffle rather than a lunge, making it seem easier.

Folks, they're still selling handguns. It's just that handguns will no longer appear in their downloadable catalog. Something about protecting dealer pricing.

If you read the link they are saying that dealers are complaining about it. But another person heard something different. Perhaps you should call before condemning them.

I've had a bad CDNN experience and admit that might bias me but that thread makes it sound like theres something rotten in denmark.

It looks like I can scratch CDNN off of my list of suppliers.

I find it sort of telling that they're only "protecting dealer pricing" on handguns and semi-auto rifles.

To Whom It May Concern:
I recently downloaded your new catalog and noticed it did not contain any handguns and that pages were missing from the PDF file. After investigating this matter on various forums such as TheHighRoad.Org and GlockTalk.com, I have heard 3 conflicting, yet equally troubling, reasons why handguns were removed. One reason was that it was because of the Virginia Tech Tragedy, another said it was because of your dealers and dealer pricing, and the other said you were concerned about Yahoo pulling your website.


I will never buy anything from your company again and I will shout it from the rooftops that CDNN is not worthy of anyone's money.

If you pulled handguns because of VT, then you are cowards. This is exactly what the Brady Campaign and VPC ("antis") want you to do. Firearms are nothing to be ashamed of and I have no interest in the so-called sporting arms your catalog is now filled with. You are taking steps that weaken the Second Amendment.

If you pulled handguns because of complaints by dealers and sensitivity over dealer pricing, then you are liars. CDNN has been in business for a long time and has had an internet-downloadable catalog for a while too. I suppose it's just a coincidence that you pulled handguns now. The dealers do not care that you still sell rifles and accessories through the catalog? Furthermore, my years spent as a retail manager and my MBA classes have taught me that the bulk of profits are made on the sale of accessories, not the main product. Your dealers should be upset about any products listed in your catalog, not just handguns. And why go through the hassle of making a new catalog only to blatantly omit certain pages? Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.

If it's because of Yahoo and their threats, you are lazy. There are dozens of companies that are more than happy to host your website for comparable prices. Yahoo is not the only game in town.

It's a fantastic world we live in; I have plenty of other options both locally and over the internet. I tolerated your company's constant out-of-stock situations on virtually every product I tried to order. No more. I'll be sure to let the two FFLs I deal with that I want NONE of my orders to go through CDNN ever again. I am a young, single male with plenty of disposable income that will now go to your competitors. Even if I pay a little more, I'll be glad that money will go to people with integrity.

I bought a lot of stuff from them strectching from 1996 to present. I've always recommend them to everyone looking for some gun related stuff's.
I'm taking them off now on my list too.

It is a two sided coin. As a FFL I can now buy guns from CDNN to sale. Before I could not because everybody knew what they cost.

I just got their new catalog in the mail. Yes, Virginia, their paper catalog still has handguns. Instead of prowling the errornet for rumors, why not actually try talking to the folks at CDNN yourself?

I agree with you there. Its just business owners changing the way they do business. Whether or not it is related to current events doesn't much matter.

I hate to see online gun shops stop advertising their handguns. I believe the free market and competition help keep prices reasonable and provide an incentive for supply to meet demand. I buy most of my handguns through online auction sites, but occasionally go to an online gun shop. If guns and prices become restricted or removed altogether, that'll put a damper on the whole buying and selling process. God forbid Gunbroker and Auction Arms go the same route. I was sad enough to see Southern Ohio Guns remove their prices.

CDNN will no longer have my business. This is a trend i'm starting to dislike. This trend is where businesses sell only hunting firearms, but absolutely refuse to sell or transfer "assault weapons."

Gander Mountain is also another that will not have my business because of this type of behavior. In the case of Gander Mountain, they will not sell or transfer AR-15 rifles.

I just got their print catalog and it was full of every type of rifle and pistol out there. I could see them pulling their pistols and EBRs off their website just until everyone calms down a bit.

I ordered a shotgun from a online store and I could not get them to responded at all, I finally called them and they said that they where getting harassed in every email and getting tons of them. I got things straightened out after I called.

I can't imagine the number of Brady idiots going around gun broker asking "How many kids will this one kill", I also can't imagine the email they likely got back .

My local gander mountain had about 35-40 Ar-15s of every make and model and about any type of shotgun you could want (even several "combat" shotguns), that was as of last month. Now if they just changed that I will be avoiding them in the future.

I was in a Gander Mt. in Virginia last week, they had plenty of ARs on the rack. Prices sucked, but they were available.
